While perusing the forum, I came upon a comment regarding tributes and worship... I am curious, how do you view worship?

Master told me once that he does not want nor need adoration, devotion or worship. He said that in his eyes, such things place a person on a pedastal, which is where he did not want to be.

Personally, I do agree with this.

I am not a Goddess or other deity, therefore worshipping me as a deity isn't what I want, nor do I think it's right. However, I do have a Priestess archetype and feel that worshiping a higher power through me and through service to me is acceptable.

i honestly havent a clue!  Though i am told i do it well.  The hardest for me is when i'm told to worship xx or ect.  My general response is "how?"  Then he reminds me of things i have done and  my response is "ooooooooooooooooo thats what you want me to do"

i dunno why things have to have names.  I just act with how i feel and if i ever had to stop and think "oh hey i'mma worship now" that might throw me off.

but then this thread wouldnt have a title........ and some stuff.

~ some added thoughts ~

I had a really difficult time with the concept of "worship" as I always applied a religious connotation to it.  Later I realized that worship is simply having reverence - honor and respect - for another person or being.  I think it's the intent behind it.  I love and adore my Master, but he is not God, and my worship to both come from much different places. When I think of worshipping my Master, I think of showing extreme devotion to him.

The other piece of this was learning HIM and what he likes - - what if my way of expressing devotion wasn't something he enjoyed?  Then I would have to change it, etc.  The more I came to know him intimately, the better I can lavish him with adoration because I can do what he enjoys, rather than what only suits me.

For me worship is pretty much just that- it's a head/spirit place that is divine, it is focused energy, in which the persons body becomes the conduit for your love and devotion, for your sacrifice and your prayers. You are a pilgrim allowed to kneel at the alter of their flesh.

Lots of people who are religious, particularly monotheists, do not get into body worship kinks.

ohhh worship.

That is the best way I know to express an almost inexpressible sense of devotion, love, admiration and gratitude.

I guess what I'm asking is just how you go about expressing it?  What is it that you do?

The deepest worship i feel I show my Daddy would have to be oour morning ritual when he gets home from work (3rd shift) I'll take off his boots and socks and massage and rub his sweaty, sore, tired feet, even kissing them. not because I have a foot fetish in anyway but I adore Him and appreciate how hard he works so that i can raise our family, attend to his needs and finish my own education to one day help Him when the kids are a little older. fun worship, cleaning him off after sex.

i kind of agree with your usage of "worship"  i am not in church and i am not doing churchly things.  To me it means - He enjoys the ways i am adoring him.  How ever i am doing it and to what part of him i am doing it too.  I do it because its an emotional need to do w/e i'm doing and he absolutetly enjoys it.  To me its just another way to show love.

I actually worship in silence or almost silence. I become very still inside. And I slow way down. Worship is serious business in some ways for me.

SusanofO -> RE: Worship? (12/14/2006 7:24:52 AM)

I will want to kiss and lick their feet (I have a thing for feet), and believe everything they say is the best advice -ever, ever. I agree that if I am worshipping someone, I am almost (or all the way) in awe of them. It's pretty rare (for me) to experience genuinely wanting to worship someone, but I've experienced it.

More often it's more like intense longing for their approval, and intense lust, respecting them, and a few other things. But - I've been there (wanting to literally worship someone) too (once). I've never really believed in the concept of a "soul-mate" (and think there are probably several people who may "fit the bill" for someone, usally). However, the one person I worshipped - I thought I'd found my real, true soul-mate.

talyn_ -> RE: Worship? (12/14/2006 8:17:08 PM)

Worship for me is all about the heart, about the devotion that you want to show Someone.  I love showing my devotion with service, through massage, and other means.  When i am allowed to give service i put my whole heart into it.  I crave the times when i am given permission to give a foot massage, i could, and have spent upwards of 2 hours massaging One's feet at times, working in the oil and easing out every bit of tension.  It tends to put me in a kind of trance, where the only things that i am aware of are Her and me, and my showing that i care and want to please Her.  It is all about Her, about seeing a smile on Her face and knowing i have made Her proud.

MasterWilliam55 -> RE: Worship? (12/14/2006 10:01:48 PM)

I don't often post in these forums. I like to watch the dynamics and I occassionally see something that touches or interests me in a very viseral way. This is one of those times. Looking past the word "worship", which for me is a word laced with religious and objectivication type conotations, I see  a different word:  "devotion".  The expression of devotion and love towards one's Master.

taylon,  susanofO, LuckyAlbatross and some others are expressing the physical manifestion of devotion and love. This is the heart of M/s and to some extent D/s relationships. We tend to ritualize our activities and this a part of "worship",  but I dislike the word because of those conotations.  When a sub/slave engages in cock "worship" or foot "worship"  etc, she/he is objectifying that "thing". What she is really trying to do is express her love/admiration/devotion/concern for the whole person;  for who he/she is. Cock, breasts, ass are objects and you may really really REALLY like them, but build a monument to them,  I''m not sure. I have to and want to believe that this ritualization of devotion  is about the whole person. Now as an animal, a man, you can worship my dick all you want, but as a Master I prefer you to engage in the same activities because of Me, not because i happen to have a nice looking dick.

So lets drop the word  "worship" at least outside of play scenarios.
