Having worked in the anti slavery movement for 15 years, having met former slaves, including Indonesian women who were in similar situations to the one you mentioned in the OP, I would disagree with Lady Ellen that religion or anything other than economics has anything to do with the enslavement of people throughout the modern world. As for this young woman, while I certainly do not support or condon what she is saying and doing, I do understand * why* she feels the way she does. Why wouldn't she resent these men ? She was born into poverty, sold, stolen or forced into prostitution with no possible means of getting out. The government does nothing and will do nothing as long as this continues to bring cash money into their country. Her life is doomed with or without STDs. Any hope for a future or normal life was taken form her long ago. When hope is lost, there is little left in life. And the entire situation begs the question...... what responsiblity does the purchaser of her services have? If American, British, European/ and any other men did not go out in search of these women, knowing the situation they are in, there would be no market for her. She also knows this on some level and therefore, resents or wishes harm on these customers. There is a wonderful book that examines modern day slavery, including the sex trade in Indonesia. Link below, also a link about slavery in Indonesia. mbmbn http://dannyreviews.com/h/Disposable_People.html http://www.iabolish.com/slavery_today/country_reports/id.html
