Lawrence111 -> Has something charged ? Technical Issue with Firefox 1.0 (2/18/2005 4:07:08 PM)

Greetings:

I didn't see another heading for a post of this type, so do excuse if it is in the wrong place.

Recently I have been using (with great success) Firefox 1.0 for my collarme.com browsing.

A few days ago, I started noticing that all the text of most of the profiles showed what appeared to be HTML code (for things like font selected, and carriage returns). I had always noticed this in Sent or Received mail, but never in profiles. (The same effect can be seen with the Mozilla browser.)

Additionally, this code was not visible when I would choose to look at "User Details".

Thinking I had gone mad with extensions and themes (Firefox allows a great deal of customization) I removed all of them (except the default 'Theme') restarting, and shutting down my computer as I went.

When I had no third party themes or extensions installed, I still saw the html-problem.

I removed and then re-installed a fresh copy of Firefox, and here I am again, seeing the HTML code.

Using Win2k.

My question is: has anything changed in the last week on the server-programming side that might explain this behavior? I'd hate to have to use SlimBrowser or Internet Exploder when I have become a big fan of Firefox for a number of reasons.

Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

PS, Added this: Under Mandrake Linux 10.1 and Firefox, there's no problem with a short or long profiles (but there is code in Received and Sent messages).

I've tried using Firefox (1.0) and Opera here and both have some rendering problems. Firefox show's html tags in email as you mentioned, it also behaves strangely in the forums, for example the 'reply', 'quote' and 'fwd' buttons don't appear with each post. Opera has a different set of behaviours. My wild-assed guess is that CM is ASP based and hence, slightly biased towards IE.

It seems to work fine for me, I see the HTML code in emails, but that is all (and only before I hit "reply"). Maybe it's something else with your computer? I know I run XP, but I am kind of computer-stupid so I don't know if that would make a difference.

Yep, that's what I see too...no problems with profiles, just html tags in email until i hit reply. I'm using Firefox 1.0 and Win XP

Same here.
My only problem is I can't get the chatroom to work. I've downloaded all the java programs I can find. It's not working in mozilla or IE. It says "unable to connect to server"

grrr

Lawrence111,

I'm using Mozilla 1.7.5 and I don't have any problems! (Just doubled checked). Not that it helps much but I thought you might like to know that its working for someone else.

Thanks subfeelings. I just posted another question, and used M 1.7.5. It's just that I like Firefox and can't figure out why it ... suddenly started acting wacky :(

Thanks again for your note.
