I have a question: I am 45 years old....when I answer an ad, how young can I go without being seen an old pervert? Sometimes I see someone younger that interests me, but, I don't answer the ad because I don't want to seem like an old lech. Can anyone offer me advice? All opinions will be appreciated.
   Thank you

Well, I'm 63 and I've never been called a lech to my face. hehehe
If they have an objection I just say "dirty ol' men need love too."

I limit my searches to ladies 40+ so I have soemthing to read. There over 55
crowd is very small and I find most of them looking for younger men.

For example on Alt my box for age compatability almost always has a red X.

I'm about ready to quit looking and become a recluse.

Don't quit.. just shift gears.  What was attractive demeanor in our younger years.. becomes  ridiculous in our later ones.  Instead of  being on the hunt..  just layout the bait and see what wanders in :)

I find that the teen and twenty-somethings have a hard time keeping their mouths shut when necessary.. especially when it's something "kewl" or "AWESOME!"

Keeeeeewwwwwwl.

-snarky flamebait comment designed to greviously offend geriatrics here-

Thank you for proving the maturity element point so nicely.

How could I deny you that comeback? ;)

People should do what they believe will make them happy. Isn't that (most) of the point of life? :)

AlexAussieSub -> RE: Question: How old??? (12/18/2006 8:56:33 PM)

I would say it depends on a lot of things. For starters how well do you look after yourself? How many days a week do you work out for instance? Also can you have a conversation on things of interest to younger women? The "dirty old man" stereotype only really applies to fat, smelly older guys who aren't able to talk about things of interest to younger women. It's not really the older part of things that causes the problem. I don't think many fat, smelly younger guys who can't talk about things of interest to women can hook up either, and look at how the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Sean Connery etc. are still popular with women.

I've seen thrity plus  years age difference work out quite well.  Gives me great hope for my old age.

I say to go as low as local laws will allow.  Taste that sweet, nectarine ambrosia that we know as "youth".  At 18, they can question your morals, but incarceration is out of the question.

Amaros -> RE: Question: How old??? (12/19/2006 9:12:59 AM)

I'm not particular - if there is a stated age range on the profile, then I'll respect it, otherwise, I'm mstly looking for the right attitude, the age of the bdy it's contained in is irrelevant.

At the same time, I have to take into account that if she is way younger than I am, then there will likely be a point where she may wish to  get out a live a little - I've seen it happen, and it's a natural enough expectation, and in that case your relationship will be more mentor than partner.

So, while I'm a youngish Fortysomething,  I'm looking for something long term - I don't want to be out looking for somebody when I'm 60 - I tend to seek women a bit older, Thirty somethings as opposed to Twentysomethings, or teens - whom I would be happy to take under my wing, so to speak, but whom I cannot reasonably expect long term commitment from - though granted there may be exceptions.

As I seldom run into single women my age, my usual line has been: "so, do you date dirty old men or what?".

For the record, the times I've been rejected in here on the basis of age, it was because I was too young - go figure.

In short, don't worry about being an "old pervert."
