Cast my vote for the holodeck.  Finally, I get to be what I've always wanted to be, A rich and powerfull king serviced by five hundred naked, beautiful slave girls - at least for a couple of hours before I have to go to bed.

I bet holodecks could create incredible dungeons...
My next vote (as of about 5 minutes ago) is for that medical device they use that closes up cuts witha  little beam of light and *poof* good as new.

Hmm... The mad scientist in me would take that medical device and invent the ReVirginator! Then get the Ferengi to sell them and I'd start stockpiling warehouses of latinum! (heh heh he he ho ho)

who needs more to have a dungeon full of naked beautiful slaves?

3D chess after playing 3D chess the standard type is sooooooo two dimensional.

Sinergy -> RE: What Star Trek technologies would you like to see made real? (12/24/2006 7:52:00 AM)

I would want the sort of immortality one derives by not wearing the red shirt.

I have played 3d chess.  It is fun.  Although I would want hologram technology to progress to the point where I could play 3D Go.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Sinergy

Go is hard enough, Sinergy. Why make it worse by adding another layer of insanity to it?

Well Everyone as a Star Trek Fan and all I have some news for you.  Much of what you see on Star Trek already is in use.  Some of it is almost ready, i.e. Jordi Visior and mechincal arms and such that respond to though commands.  Within recent years an anti-proton was created so antimatter is not far away and a computer was able to replica a proton.  Meaning transporter and holodecks are possible.  Oh those green girls are Green Orinon Slave girls..not sure about them.  And there is a DVD out with Counselor Tori..in a bound nude state.  Light sabers..well the US Air Force does have a laser weapon that works on the ground..can't get it to work on an airborn platform.

Happy Holidays

Grins, actually so much of our current tech was inspired by Trek TOS (that's The Original Series for you non-Trekkies) it's ridiculous, removable storage media, voice address systems,
automatic doors, cell phones and PDA's, etc. Now, it's not a piece of Trek Tech, but a lightsaber is actually a tractor beam, and a repulsor field contained in a single device. The glow is actually just a coronal discharge, the actual cutting field of such a device is almost microscopically small. The closest Trek Tech would be the Klingon Disruptor (which in the original Klingon translates to the shake-it-until-it-falls-apart-tool) Holodeck, as a part of a VR setup is being used currently in a primitive version (well primitive compared to Trek) by the Military in Tanker training, and a few other selected applications. And yes, the video in question (I believe you are talking about "The Wicked Lady" also featuring Faye Dunaway) does indeed have several topless shots of Marina Sirtis. She has a decent set, but personally I can't get all worked up over her. Anti matter, at least many components of it have been created and used for various things for sometime. (PET scans come readily to mind) Let us continue to Boldly go!

Well, Data is anatomically accurate and effecient, so I imagine that most folks (especially the randy ones here) would like to see that capability reproduced for the benefit of the craving masses.

the hell with Star Trek tech. I want a TARDIS!

Transporters first, then replicators, and holotechnology, next nanotech for doing body repair at the cellular level.

Yes, the first thing I thought of was the healing nanotechnology. And I agree with transporters and the holodeck. But what I'd really wish for isn't the technology per se, but the philosophies of the prime directive and the working, democratic Federation of Planets.

And skin tight uniforms are nice, too........[:D]

FullCircle -> RE: What Star Trek technologies would you like to see made real? (12/26/2006 10:20:46 AM)

With nanotechnology there is the risk of grey goo so it’s not one of the things I’m looking forward to in the future.
