They sell special lotions that are supposed to hold in a tan, although I don't know if they would work for you. They work for me, but I tan easily and can hold a tan for many months (still clinging to the band-tan from August).

They sell them at most tanning salons

Absolutely nothing. I don't mean to sound bad but, absolutely nothing. I'm a sun worshipper myself. The only thing I have ever found thus far to work is aloe lotion. The thicker the better. Put it on twice a day...the first time you forget expect to start peeling. I've lasted about 3 weeks before I've forgotten in the past.
Good luck, if you manage to make it through and turn it into a tan. You're a better person than I. Just go out in the sun 20 minutes a day 3 days a week and you'll tan.

hello riot.

apply vinagar and fresh aloe to over parched skin with a cooled wet towel. Might I also suggest to please your Master, a carboard cutout of His Name taped from the backside to your body in a private place applied each time you are out tanning which after a couple of weeks or so turns out to be a type of token of significance on your skin of His name that is a very cheap and special way to say how you feel about your Owner, say on your thigh or a breast. I adored this very special present one of My slaves gave to Me unexpectantly therefor passing on this for others to copy and enjoy.

What a nice idea. However, what about the dangers of sunbathing? My mother had a melanoma and after her surgery her leg looked like it had been bitten by a shark, they removed so much tissue.

Lol....we used to do something like this but I hadn't thought of it in a long time. We used lipstick with a high SPF to draw hearts n stuff on ourselves.

RiotGirl, as I sit here in this snowstorm in Michigan I am having a really hard time feeling bad for you.....lol. Just kidding....I have used the vinegar treatment before on sunburns and it does make the skin feel less tight(although you smell like a salad). Aloe works very good too. For a moisturizer that will lock in the tan I would just make sure it contains no mineral oil or alcohol(many brands do) as they are very drying to the skin and will contribute to peeling or flaking.

You can get fresh aloe by buying an aloe plant. They are fairly cheap and you simply cut off one of the leaves(they are like thick shoots and split them open and rub them on or squeeze them to get the juice out and use that. You can also buy aloe in stores(health food stores usually have it). If it is in gel form what you want to be sure of is that it is cold processed aloe.

In the past I have used Swedish Beauty, Australian Gold, Body Drench (their shea butter is really good for burns), Island Heat and Aloha Tan. I habe been tanning since I was about 12 (at the time it was used to fight acne in people with sensative skin). Right now I am using a lotion that is specific to my salon do it's just called "TanPro" but I don't think that you can get it anywhere but TanPro Salons. I don't like it much anyway.
All of the other ones have worked pretty well, and I know that you can get Australian Gold at some drug, discount and mega stores.
One other thing that you can do it just look for an aftersun care lotion, it usually found by the tan acceleraters. Most of the time the only difference is the scent.
If you ever go to a salon, ask the girls there what they use, most of them will be more then happy to tell you. People that tan love it when people notice their tan and are more then happy to share tips and product recommendations.

That's silly. My aunt was an avid sun worshiper. She never goes out without sunscreen, anymore, and -never- sits in the sun. Ever.

She got tired of having bits of skin cancer removed.

I posted a tan brand month's ago that it is something I do for Doug. Actually a couple people requested photo's back then. Anyway, cardboard is very light and would move around.

If you choose to do this you have to use something a little heavier. I've experimented with stickers but finding a lot of D stickers that were the right size were a bit hard to do. Only so many alphabets you can have with no D that are useful.

Anyway, I narrowed my search down to a child's refrigerator magnet. Seems to stay put rather easy. Doesn't ever get harmed. Works quite well.

You can also look for things called "Tan Tattoos." They are little stickers that are made to stick to skin while you are tanning.
I have link, but they aren't letters, just pictures, but I have seen letters before (I just don't remember where, if I do, I will post it).

Tan Tattoos

Contact paper works well, if your looking to do letters. Just stencil or draw them out yourself, and cut. Then you can do several at a time and have them ready each time you go out.

As far as the burn goes . . . vinegar will stop the burning feeling and fresh aloe will help remoisturize the skin. And yes I have used this, on myself as well as my children. I have an aloe plant.

By the way . . . you didn't catch a tan, you caught a burn. And the majority of the time you will lose it. Gloria has the best advice if your really wanting to tan. "20 minutes a day, 3 days a week". And I suggest you either cover your face or use a high SPF on it.

I tan fairly easy, 20 min. in the afternoon sun, and I go in with tan lines. Unfortunately, I moved from Calif. to Louisiana, and now the only thing I can catch is a good sweat.

Take care,

That's a wonderful idea, and very inexpensive as well (and you aren't limited by the designs that the company chooses). I think I will use this the next time I go tanning.

Maybe you could try the Mystic Tan? You get in a booth and your tan is sprayed on evenly all over. I have friends that do it and they look great. Instant tan, no burn, no cancer worries.

My tanning dreams were squashed by Master. I have to keep a bottle tan now. But when I was on my own, I tanned everyday of my life. Body Drench was my brand of choice but I have been reading about some new products that are by a company called Hempz and they seem to be really emoillient.

What is this "sunburn" you people talk about? This "sunburn" is a completely foreign concept to me!

The itching is caused by the burnt layer of dead skin seperating from the skin below it. Anywhere it itches, it will peel. Not much you can do to stop that. Keep it lotioned.
