Background for the case:

"Judge Rejects Detention Challenge of Bin Laden's Driver"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/13/AR2006121301946.html

"Hamdan's lengthy detention beyond American borders but within the jurisdictional authority of the United States is historically unique," Robertson wrote. "Nevertheless . . . his connection to the United States lacks the geographical and volitional predicates necessary to claim a constitutional right to habeas corpus."

My comment: So how was it we tried someone like Noriega under U.S. law for crimes committed in the nation of Panama? It would seem jurisdiction is only an issue if they wish to assert jurisdiction. If the jurisdictional issue helps a defendant then it doesn't apply. They want it every way and no way. U.S. law applies/U.S. law doesn't apply - flip a coin...

"CCR CONDEMNS DISMISSAL OF HAMDAN V. RUMSFELD"

Barbara Olshansky also noted that "this is the first time in the history of this country that a court has held that a man may be held by our government in a place where no law applies." She further noted that "the Center will not stand by and watch the unraveling of human rights at the cost of individual freedom and our most fundamental democratic principles."

Just a bit more showing that my assertion is probably correct.

These people (except Bush and a few others) know exactly what they are doing. They are nastier than most people can concieve.

They claim Hitler was a madman who wanted to rule the world, but it is not true. He wanted certain territorial gains. Russia was a real threat as well.

Fact of the matter is that the neo-cons are exactly the threat they try to attribute to others. Who has taken the most agressive military actions in the past few decades ? Who antagonizes any government that will not capitulate ? Who declares foreign officials criminals 6,000 miles away with some magical mystical jurisdiction ?

Who does these things ? What kind of people do these things ?

Once you understand how they are, not much will surprise you anymore.
