lol I'm nervous too but learning more how to direct the interview. Its hard because many people don't know you yet or heard the stories I have so I have to back us up and fill in the blanks. I'm getting better. I enjoy the morning interveiws the most.

Oh btw- we got disconnected twice so it may be a few days to edit out the dead space - the 3rd try is the actual interview so for now fast foward until we can edit it out.

Lashra -> RE: Interview this AM Tammy Jo Eckhart (12/20/2006 12:27:13 PM)

I listened to the show and again thought it was great. I had always wondered how TammyJo's husband reacted to her live in slave Fox and I am so glad she went into that for us. Usually when you hear people speak of their poly relationships its all good and I know that I'm thinking when I hear that, it can't be so perfect there has to be some ups and downs. TammyJo certainly showed how the real deal works, there is jealousy, love, and laughter aka the ups and downs. I think in the way that she and her partners handled the situations she spoke of really is admirable. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you, Lashra.

Now for the really ego-centered question: Did my voice sound childish? I always think I sound like a little kid when I hear myself on a recording.

Yes so do I.

mnottertail -> RE: Interview this AM Tammy Jo Eckhart (12/20/2006 1:08:25 PM)

I do not think TJE sounds like a little kid.

I actually think DV sounds like she looks, and TJE sounds good as well.

I actually thought both of you sounded really professional, and it was a good show, poor DV for the first part of trying to get everything hooked up and then again later.  Tech sucks some times.

Yeah TJE sounds young but she has a nice voice.

Its still good if you fast forward. At least we got it done, which is good and hopefully they'll edit that dead spot out.

Thank you for listening and your feed back.

Lashra -> RE: Interview this AM Tammy Jo Eckhart (12/20/2006 1:59:46 PM)

You sound young but no not like a child. I sound young and up until I was about 25 salespeople would call the house and ask to speak to my Mother[:@] Luckily the voice has deepened a bit or something for me lol.

I really liked the show TammyJo you did great. [:)]

DiannaVesta -> RE: Interview this AM Tammy Jo Eckhart (12/21/2006 4:14:55 AM)

I got an email last night from a close friend that listened to the show. She said that it was the first time she actual hear what she was feeling. That the show will literally change her life. She said that she wanted a partner for life and that they should first look out for each others interest, want what is best and that the ultimate relationship is having it all. She’s right you know. I mean in theory its appealing and it makes you sit back and think about relationship drama and power struggles. I think this is what keeps me in D/s because the roles are clearly defined and that makes it easy for me and the people I get involved with. In Tammy Jo’s case she almost has an equal and total partnership with Tom, or does she? (please tell us Tammy Jo! Lol)

As always, after a show, I think about how I could have structured the questions better and if my listeners learned anything from the show. I think that this show was very important in letting people hear how this dynamic can be in more ideal situations.

Anyhow Tammy Jo you made quite an impact on my friend and I am still rolling over some things myself.

In my household I'm clearly the dominant person. While that isn't a negotiated Ds relationship with Tom we have discussed and our personalities are such that I am just more organized and more forewarding thinking than he is. He also dislikes making decisions but (unlike my slave Fox) doesn't want someone to make decisions for him -- he's ok with me making decisions for us as a couple and for the household but he wants his personal life to be his own.

Or does he? Because he will ask me to remind to do things and make sure he doesn't forget things. He wasn't raised to be an independent as I had to be when I was a child. We do discuss it ocassionally in family therapy, a place that is great to just touch up and refine communication skills and deal with those things that always seem to slam one of us.

Anyway this stroke (minor luckily) of my mother two days ago and the conversations with my sisters has reenforced the image I have of my childhood. I knew things and how to be an adult a hell of a long time before I think is very healthy. Tom never had to deal with that, in fact, his stepmother was very controling and it did not allow him to develop all those skills that I think would make him a full partner in our relationship.

But I rarely see full partnerships in any couple or family. People have strengths and weakness. The best result is to find what each person does well and then agree to follow that structure. Tom has serious adult responsibilities with our family -- he is the primary income earner, he deals with the financial management of things but he consults me before any big purchase because I tend to have a more realistic view of what we can afford based on his accounting, he has his household chores, and of course he has his emotional/sexual responsibilities to our marriage. But unlike Fox even though Tom wants me to make many of our decisions and to manage the family he is not obedient and will whine and bitch and argue.

That to me is the big difference between a slave and a spouse.

That's sort of rambling I know but it's difficult to explain a marriage of 14.5 years within a poly household that has a strong owner-slave dynamic for only one part of that household.

I found it to be a wonderful show, too bad about all the connection-glitches!  I will be back to Dianna’s site looking for the edited version!  (Well, I’ll be back to Dianna’s site because, now that I’ve discovered her radio show, I want more!)  At any rate, I can see sending lots of folks the link to the interview.

Yes, TammyJo, your voice sounds youngish…but the authority in your voice keeps you from sounding at all childish.

I appreciate Dianna’s interview because it allowed you to give us a glimpse of how a D/s or M/s relationship might work…as well as how a Poly family works.  Thank you both!

Some ideas I came away with:

Perhaps we do not really exchange power.  We all have the same amount of power, even in a D/s relationship; but we give (or accept) authority and control of our lives.

I appreciate the idea not to ‘fall into relationship’, but rater to discuss what it is we want and set goals to support each other in getting what we want.

I loved TammyJo’s comment that knowledge doesn’t equate to Dominance.  That should help a lot of bright, capable submissives who have quite a bit of knowledge; which personally, I appreciate!

Setting up for success not failure; talk, discuss, plan.  Get clear!

And, while I have read ‘The Ethical Slut”; I liked TammyJo’s suggestion that couples read it aloud together and create a plan for what works for them.

Again, thank you both!
Beverly

I thought you did a great interview. Tammjo's desire for a poly family was somewhat resonate with me. Its not easy to combine others into a poly chain or to try settle or smooth over differences beyond one's own control (between others.)

The other good thing about the radio show was your positive attitude, which is something on these boards you consistently display. I may not always agree with you and often you end up wrangling with others, but you stay positive and undaunted. This trait served you well through all the technical difficulties of the program as you never got flustered or irritated.

This impressed me a lot, Dianna, too. I get pissed so easily at technology -- but hey, that's why I hang with really computer/techy geeky people I guess. They can fix things when I get pissed.

Lol- I think I learn this from animals. I have so many of them and living on a farm something is bound to go wrong. Last night I was sitting by the fire really thinking about my life and how I arrived where I am today. I think back on my early 30’s when the house was full of slaves and I had zero tolerance for mistakes and bad attitudes. I find myself much more open-minded today. I think that life in general does this. Still there’s something missing and I think the only way I’m going to get there is through faith and lots of patience.

I would like to figure out a better medium for the live shows. A friend of mine said, “This is so cool. You’re documenting history.” And I guess I am. I had hoped we would be further along with Femsupreme and could upgrade our server and scripts but we are not. I need to find a way to have more control over the live shows from Blog Talk in the event they shut down and also we’ve had to re-do or cancel a few shows already. When its free they don’t open up the resources as much. Also I would like to set up a few other hosts to do shows because I feel this is a wonderful medium to learn. I mean even when I listen it’s somehow different then reading forum. It’s like I get a feel for what is really happening. Tammy I’ve listened to your show at least 3 times already and since Wed the show has been downloaded almost 150 times.

Can someone please please find me a 24/7 live-in slave to a dominant woman I can interview? I am getting a lot of email request. This person should be intelligent and articulate.

Did anyone buy TammyJo's book yet?
