you're allowed to be offended, but that does not negate the artistic merit of the works

That was very offensive and not only because I'm a Christian. It's the holiday season...Let's not forget Jesus is the reason for the season..

I wonder if I took a shit and made a picture of your face with it, would that be considered art?

I don't care about christmas........and the season is actually winter.

Most of the pictures were very cool artistically, a couple I found downright erotic.

It was soo nice outside today when I took my walk, didn't feel anything like winter..I'm hoping that means our winter will be an easy one this year...but I doubt it.

I liked them - not offended at all. Art is art no matter what form it takes and should be valued as such

Um...yeah. Actually this season is all about pagan holidays.

Re-read your bible for a listing of holidays you have been commanded to keep and never do.

I must say the art work was Creative and Unusual. Some I liked others I did not.

The artist made some work, and sought attention and s/he got it. Further more they even got a gut style reaction to it. Something all artists long for.

TIP. If you don’t like the work, you're better off saying nothing, as getting any reaction is motivation to continue.

As for the comments about it being offensive, people need to move on and get over it. I don’t like graffiti or classical music; I don’t have time or the notion to critique either.

Ironically this is part of the reason I think religion should no be apart of Collar me. Religion; even in its simplest; is polarized and mildly extremist. It is such a personal issue that it is often debated with in its own community. Religions would like to be inclusive, but the reality is they are very discriminating.

And for the record,
Christ’s Mass is an acknowledgement of birth of Holy Son, and the circumstances surrounding his birth.

Christmas, and Chris Cringle, as celebrated with the act of giving gifts is a Pagan tradition. A counter culture tradition.

i hate to let you know that well...the only things that bible actually promotes celebration are:\

weddings and good friday...they are the only celebrations that are mentioned as a celbratory reason....

as far as the reason for the season??  eh let us all not get upity and say my religion is better than yours...

How about this...I find the "artwork" ameturish and honestly done just to evoke a feeling of disrespect for others beliefs...so now would i feel the same if they had a "art piece" of a hindu goddess desicrated?  YES  would i find a disrespected menorah?  YES...it is about being respectful to others feelings and well it is my belief that these so called artistic drawings are nothing more than sacrilegeous and provocative to the pnt of not being even suitable to discuss!

have a great winter solstice!  and well I shall have a joyous christmas tide!

They seemed calculated mainly to shock, which always strikes me as more adolescent than artistic.

The nice thing about art, as with music, books, etc is that if you don't like it you don't have to look.  What one finds offensive another finds attractive.  From an artistic standpoint they're not bad.  Not what I would hang in my house, but then again not the style of what I collect.  My issue is that people who are offended feel that since they are offended then no one else should have the right to view it.  We don't all hold the same beliefs.
Sorry for the pre coffee ramble.

I like they way you phrased that Aileen68, " My issue is that people who are offended feel that since they are offended then no one else should have the right to view it.  We don't all hold the same beliefs." short simple to the point.

I need to learn to stop monologuing, im sure you all very tired and annoyed.....

.... what a second CandleInTheWind is paganism a religion??
