A local reporter did the same thing in the suburb I live in just out side of Milwaukee. I also like seeing hem get busted and I don't care how they do it. To me hurting a child is worse than just about anything...

pahunkboy -> RE: Chris Hansen, MSNBC (12/25/2006 7:01:16 AM)

it makes me wonder how many guys succeed.

Washington Dc has a whole department of chatters- they work 4pm- to 8am.  the logic being the kids are in school other hours.

when they had that international bust- of porn, underaged. a man in a nearby town was arrested.

the internet can never be safe for a child.

Real0ne -> RE: Chris Hansen, MSNBC (12/25/2006 7:09:46 AM)

worse does anyone have any idea how many kids are out there are actively searching for this?   they want to run away from abused home life etc or they are sexually addicted at the ripe young age of 14 often because they are having sex with daddy, older brother, cousin, uncle etc. and want to continue...   i used to leave yahoo/msn/aol on 24/7 and i would guess anywhere between 10 - 20+ minors per year would approach me and i am old enough to be their grandfather for pete sake LOL

If you talk with them at all they become predatory and do not leave you alone even if you explain that your ass will end up in jail and the only way is to immediately find out their age say good bye and then block them.

The whole situation is sad imo for all involved.

someone should educate washington dc that these kids get internet time while in school that is only marginally supervised.  of course i suppose they will just hit the streets instead...  which is just as dangerous tho not as convenient for them i suppose...  really cant stop it imo

Oh i have a minor story to tell ya all....

i was chatting with this gal here and there and she told me she was in her 20's k?

Well she gave me her phone number we talked had some good laughs etc... but usually just chatted online for th emost part...  i had no resaon to believe she was a minor...  it was all quite plutonic but then one day i seen her come online and said hi to her.  well a message came back saying who is this?  i said what do you mean? isnt this xyz?  No this is xyz's mother. Oh hi xyz's mother how are you.  i just checked your profile and noticed that you are 50 years old.  Yes well i am only online friends with your daughter, it wont go any farther than that cuz of the age difference.  Do you know xyz is 15 years old?  My fucking heart stopped.  i was livid.  Told her mother she should monitor her child more closely and she agreed.  After that i do not leave it on any longer typically only chat with people i meet elsewhere as in on here etc...  Never would have guessed, this kid could carry on an adult conversation well enough that i was convinced she was the age she claimed.

CHATTER BEWARE

Missokyst -> RE: Chris Hansen, MSNBC (12/25/2006 8:34:18 AM)

I love to watch them get busted.  It really bugs me when people go after kids, especially if they are in positions of power.  Some of those guys were teachers, that is really disturbing.
It would be one thing if it was a real kid pretending to be older.  I can see someone falling into that trap.  But these stings are very defined.  They openly state their supposed ages and the men still show up.  Some of them have been busted on more than one sting, despite their protestations of "this is the first time I have done this!".

On a funnier note, this series of shows has gotten so well known it has crossed over to satire status.  I was watching studio 60 the other day and they did a skit within the show where Santa gets busted by Chris Hanson, for visiting a minor.

You can see any of the real dateline predator series archived shows on msnbc.
Fascinating stuff.

I am more than happy that they bust these men, and that they will not be bothering any real children over the internet. There is something about it that makes me uneasy though. I guess I feel as though there maybe an entrapment issue involved on some level that causes me this unease.

I tend not to watch those shows because I feel no "joy" when people do bad things and then get in trouble for it. It is terrible that people do horrible things to each other, and I am all about justice in the world, but I just do not enjoy "seeing" people do the bad thing, and then "seeing" them get nabbed. I think about their wives, their children, their parents, their friends... I think of all the people that they have hurt, and when the camera focuses on their face I think of these things in their shocked stares.

The fact of the matter is that their loved ones pay the price for what they have done as surely as they do. It must be humiliating for lets say a teenage boy to see his dad busted for such a dispicable thing. I guess I am just not a voyuer to drama.

How about the ones who had a gut feeling it was a set up and came anyway?

At least we got Representative Foley off the streets before the Congressmen on the committee for missing and exploited children could chat up more of them.

One down, lots more to go.

p.s. I do have an objection to statement that the internet is not a safe place for a child.  The internet is a collection of wires and signals passing over a phone infrastructure between computers.  It is neither safe or unsafe.  Now the freaks who use it are a different story...

Dumb fuckers.  Sick fuckers too....and stupid as a rock.

I wish they'd get some kind of special dispensation from the feds and just cut their dicks off right there on national TV.

(I also wish they'd follow these idjits home and show the tape to their wives LOL)
