It's time for the event that happens for me about every five years or so, it's time for me to order new checks
I was poking around to see what was available online and found that there is a site that bill put a black and white picture on your checks. So, here's the question: Is it vain to put a picture of yourself (and only yourself) on your checks? I was all excited until I realized that the clerks at store are going to think that I am totally full of myself. I love the idea of putting myself on a check, but I could just be vain. What does everyone think about putting a picture of themselves on their checks?

putting a pic of yourself is a great idea. Even better than having it on your debit card. Great way to help prevent identity theft and the use of checks stolen. Vain you ask, nah. Who cares what anyone else thinks.? So what's this pick going to look like? Just your face? flashing? mooning?
Anything provocoative or just your sweet innocent smile?

Hehe, do you really think they will accept that pic?

Nice if they did though.

Well, they have an option to crop down the picture, I figure as long as you can't see my rear in the pictures they shouldn't have a problem with it.

And I read the aggreement and all it said was no copyrighted pictures. We'll see though

You may want to put a photo that shows your face a bit more clearly. It may be useful to keep others from using a check in your name.

On the back of all of my mum's credit cards are the words "Request Photo ID" just in case. But she's thinking about getting cards that require a photograph on it as well.

They have to check ID on checks anyway, in order to collect on a bad check they have to have a driver's license number so most stores are required to check ID anyway. The point of this is just to have a fun picture on a check, you can even do pictures of your pets, it's kind of neat.

That, and I don't have anyone that would use checks in my name unless they were stolen and since they would be asked for an ID to write a check, and I have stolen check non-liability protection or something. Although that is a good thought.

Probably would be better if the shot was more frontal. Wouldn't have to be your face, I suppose If I looked as good as you do, I might consided my picture on the check as well.

Well, what the heck, why have my picture on my checks. I know what I look like. Perhaps I'll find a picture of some sexy woman and put that on the checks. Sure it'll be confusing, but I'll like it much better!

I am almost never asked to show ID when writing a check and have never been asked when using a credit card. Maybe I just look real honest or something....lol.

That was my first thought - but if any clerk bothered to ask about the picture on the check, a thief could say it was a daughter or girlfriend.

I had checks stolen while on a trip and the thief used a forged Driver's License to write checks all over the area. Strangely, the Driver's License was for the gender opposite of mine - but then I have a name that can be used for either sex.

Still, I don't think the photo on a check will stop check fraud. So Siamsa... nice pic! I hope they take it.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. People cheeks is peoples freedom of speech. However, do know that most check have to have addresses on them. Someone seeing a pic like that might try to stop by or begin mailing you letters and lord knows what else.

Anyways, do you mind sending me a check? Just make it out for $5.00. I'll hang on to it for luck.

Well, I don't live at the address that is on my checks, it's a P.O. Box so that solves that one.

And about the $5 check, I don't think that I can do that, if you ever did cash it, it might bounce

i think its a great idea, though i dont use cheques very often, but when i do, its generally posted through the mail, so there wouldnt be much point unless i had met them in person.

it would be handy on the credit cards, as well as the bank ATM cards as signitures are forgable, and i dont think a would be theif would go to extent of getting cosmetic surgery just for a few bucks.......

I make my own checks. I am not limited by what pictures I can or can not put on there. It is a simple program available in most places. Check it out.

I think not being asked for ID is kinda worrisome myself. I wonder why the clerk can't manage to do their jobs correctly. I'm sure you look honest, or live in a really small town, the kind where ID is silly cause everyone knows everyone...... smiles....

Sorry..... this thread caught my attention...and was kinda interesting, and different from others.

Oh, another reason I get upset when they don't ask.... is cause I had checks stolen one time.... and 500.00 in cashed frauded checks later.... it tooks months to correct. Literally several months. It takes one time going through that. And all of a sudden..... asking for that photo ID, would have stopped the whole mess cold.
It really sucked.

Oh yeah.... the pic was cute... too bad they rejected it.... and the program sounds neat too!!
