p.s. Im curious about the ankle injury.  Did they have to rebreak the ankle in order to set it?

No, it was just 3 or 4 days after the fact, so it wasn't a big deal.

It sounds like several of the (dominant) men here have the (dubious) ability to simply ignore what is obviously wrong and muster on.  Is it male ego and bluster or are some of us just stupid?  In a good way, of course.

I figure I am too stupid to not think about self-preservation.

This approach works for me.

As Neil Young put it, "It is better to burn out than to fade away."

I have a moderately high pain threshold, broken ankle, broken pinky, sprains, bangs cuts and scrapes I've had my fair share to stubborn to go to the doctor and get things fixed.  I once had a cavity filled with out novacane because I didn't like needles.

But and it's a big but there is no way I have the courage to stand there and let someone hurt me.

and it's not really a matter of pain but when a bad bout of hayfever hits and clogs everything up, it renders me useless

I can only tell you that the majority of the people I see are women.  Most of these I see within 2 - 3 days of their injury.  Of the men, I do see, most are 4 - 6 months beyond their original injury and they are now coming to see me because "I can't work..I can't walk...I can't turn my head".

Perhaps it's one reason why, in so many of the older couples who come in to see me, the husband looks to be about 10 - 15 years older than the wife when in all actuality, he is only 2-5 years older.

I actually cannot tell what my pain thresh-hold is. In some areas, I seem to have a really high pain tolerance (the broken ankle scenario comes to mind; I've sprained my ankle before, and hardly realized it for days).

On the other hand, I get periodic foot-cramps in the soles of my feet (I have no idea why). On New Year's Eve, I was hosting a party at my place, and fifteen minutes before guests were set to arrive, I got these horrific cramps in my feet. I couldn't walk, and nothing would make the pain stop. I was getting worried, because they weren't going away - and it was so painful, I was in tears. My dogs were just staring at me, wondering what was up. Then suddenly - they just disappeared (equally weird). When I get those cramps, my whole world just seems to stop, it is so painful to me.

Hi Ross, Yes, from the sub side of the coin. I don't enjoy pain but withstand a lot as the energy exchange feeds us both in the giving and taking of such extreme energy and being used as a vessle of release is my desire.Knowing I'm being used for their pleasure and fulfillment is my get off.
Yes knowing that you are being used as a vehicle for pleasure and a conduit for energy can be very rewarding and make you very popular at gatherings also I am sure.

I can't say that it really affects the level of intensity with a sub... people are different. Their threshold (and desire to stretch that threshold) is what drives that.

Ever find it to intensify for one reason or another then?

strumpet enjoys pain.  I like it when strumpet enjoys things, so she gets plenty of pain.  I was with somebody who was not particularly in to pain, but enjoyed bondage and being told what to do.  She got tied up and told what to do without a whole lot of pain.

Pain seems to be quite an intoxicating elixer to many.

Others do prefer orders of pleasure to that of discipline.

Then there is the allure of the tightness of bindings.

I'm a huge pain pussy. I don't deal with it well at all but as a Sadist I can be rather intense. It's their suffering for me, giving their very all and then some that gives me the mental orgasms.

Well done...finally someone who speaks of the mental orgasms.

Indeed.

How many orgasm simply from mindset and verbage used to convey what will be done to them?

When a submissive suffers for Me it is very intense mindset....

Mindfuckery of a different type.

i have a very high tolerance for pain. i physically and mentally enjoy it. i am not currently owned but in previous situations in which i was i discovered that even if i wasn't physically enjoying the pain i mentally enjoyed it because i knew it was something that my Owner enjoyed. anything that He enjoys and anything that He gives to me, including His pain, are things that bring me joy.

So how might you enjoy it beyond the obvious physical as in the mindset realm?

What does it take for you to know that you are connecting and are on the verge of pushing beyond?

Being owned is not a needed requisite...many attach greater importance to being owned than need be as it is the journey rather than the desitnation that should take priority.

Enjoying pain in giving the knowledge that you do something for your top or dominant is a way of giving yourself more.

Knowing that a submissive would do this for Me is a mind orgasm to the full tilt indeed.

In the mindset the body responds for Me.  If the mind is not there it is all rather mechanical even with the best of flesh available to do My bidding.

The joy you give is cylcaltory and you feed each other.

Would I want to try and test that threshold to see if I could take what a submissive or a masochist does?  No...and not so much because I am afraid that I couldn't take it as the fact that I Don't...Like...Pain.  Being able to take pain and liking pain are two different things, just as "good and/or fun pain" is different from "bad, don't want" pain.  And yet...I am also one of those dominants who lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvves watching a submissive take pain, not only when she is enjoying it but when she is struggling with it in order to receive it for my pleasure and to push her own self-imposed limits.

Agreed and understod.

Yet I am sure you have tried out props and articles that render pain on yourself to see how high they rate on the scale correct?

Testing the envelope within a submissive's consent is very delicious....especially if it is a creative twist to it that I have thought up.

Always testing props to make sure they exceed the usage to be safe ...such as the sling down at the crucible last week...making sure it to take My weight and that all locking devices were secure..

So how creative might you be in pain?

So has a dom actually experienced what they subject a submissive to?

I have a very low threshold for day to day pain. I am a complete whimp. Under the right circumstances and with the right amount of arousal I can take almost anything. The higher my arousal the higher my pain tolerance. Something about being that vulnerable and not wanting to show it really gets me off.

Absolutely. There are many reasons why things intensify- the longer I'm with someone, the more trust we share, or just random things... my most recent ex, for example, had no sensitivity in her breasts and nipples- to the degree she could not tell if a hand was on one or not. After a few (dozen) visits to the chiropractor, she had some feeling... and that opened a whole new level, and a whole new intensity, to our time together.

Even in an individual experience things can cause the intensity to ratchet up... again, it could just be the way the actions are working, or something deeper, like a sudden realization that there's some intense feelings between us.

Hope that answers your question.

Not exactly.

I have a high tolerance for pain and enjoy a good whipping once in awhile from a nearby Master, mentor, personal friend.

I have yet to find any male sub who can take anything close to what I can tolerate, and I have a difficult time finding a male sub who can take what I dish out.

It is taking a submissive from a simmer to a boil that is an art. Mindset aware coupled with the physical is a vehicle of pleasure to be found. From a lily white..to pink..to red...to scarelet red...all within the non hurring amount of time can be very delicious...

Different approaches to something like different brush strokes of different artists can indeed give new meaning to something that may be tired and worn out.

Add the mindset of excitement..the thing that connects the dots and races in the mind like shooting electricity and you may find f you are lucky a new path to orgasms.

Reaching orgasms thru mindset where physical is secondary is delicious for all invoved.

Man uses only a small fraction of the human mind..tapping into a small percentage can be very delcious and well worth time invested.
