It's no use, Mmake Me -- Stephann not only gets to be funny, he gets to be with someone as pretty as Gretchen, too.  With that kind of karma, the lightning would probably miss him and hit both of US.  Not fair !

Sorry it took me so long to respond, i have been fighting first the flu then brohncitis [sm=frown.gif]  I am trying all your advice. I have found that bottled spring water is alot easier for me to consume.

Personally, I drink a lot of water.  I keep a 1/2 liter glass and a two liter pitcher next to the computer.  I can easily go through four to six liters of water a day.  I also go through a few cups of coffee (give or take) and a half liter of beer (sometimes more, sometimes less - gretchen and I are regular beer drinkers.)

The trick to drinking water is like LA said - just do it.  Keep it nearby, and take a swallow when you notice it.  After a while, it becomes an unconscious thing.

Hello,

When I am teaching my class, I wear a rather large suit of padded foam and vacuum formed plastic armor.  Then I do gymnastics while angry women beat me up in order to imprint a (realistic) response (to blows inflicted on me) in their limbic system.

I sweat about a quart an hour.  I will drink one to one and a half gallons of water in a 3.5 hour class and not have to urinate for several hours after teaching the class.

The problem with drinking water with anything in it, sugar, bourbon, whatever, is that the bodies digestion processes require water.  So if you are drinking water to ease your thirst, which is the bodies signal that you need to drink water, your body is using the water you drink to process whatever you put in it.

However, with the amount I sweat and the amount I drink, what worries me is electrolyte depletion.  What I add to my water is (Splenda) no calorie Emergen-C with electrolytes, vitamins, as well as potassium, glucosamine, and chondroiton for joint health.

Just me, etc.

You may want to experiment with the temperature at which you drink the water. I like mine really cold; I know other folks who much prefer it tepid. That can make a big difference. Hope you feel better soon!

Are you drinking water to cool off?

If you are hot...

...and you drink cold water.  Your body goes "ugh, cold" and turns on your heater.

...if you drink room temperature or warm water, your body goes "ugh, its too hot" and turns on the AC.

If and when I add green or giensing tea to my water, I still consider the beverage to be water.

yes, but do you check for how much sugar content is in those? and do you read the ingrediants? Most the top two ingrediants in those are fructose and corn syroup. two ingrediants you DO NOT want in  your drinks, as their high sugar essentially. and sugar is not condusive to loosing weight.

Take for instance propel fitness water, it's got surcrose, fructose cornsyroup* I believe* and it's got sugar. There's another brand of "fitness water" with 30 grams of sugar.

i drink fruit 2 0

When I just have to have some flavoring I use Crystal Light Lemonade. It's doesn't have a  heavy nutra sweet kinda taste. Sometimes I will drink more fluids if they have taste to them so I figure if it helps me drink more water it can't be all bad.

If you were referring to me, the Emergen-C product I use is sweetened with Splenda and has 0 calories and carbs.

I like talking rain, it's carbonated, but there's no fructose or corn syroup. It's got  very little calories, like 3 and it's in a huge bottle.
