First of all I'm not trying to disrespect anyone at all I just ask out of curiousity.
I was wondering do you who are BBW or BBM's (bb male..) feel happy being BB or would you change it if you could or do you feel just very happy being BB?

or have you learnt to accept that you're BB but would still like to change if you got the opportunity to..(don't exactly know how to put this one into words)

Yes I am happy and comfortable with who I am. I have normal blood pressure, normal blood sugar, normal cholesterol and am active. Most people think fat people have self esteem issues. I do not. I am happy the way I am.

P.S - you know this is going to turn into a free for all.

I'm sure it will, but it's refreshing to see someone (anyone) happy with who she is.

I haven't always been a BBW.  It happened after having my second UM, my thyroid gave out.  So, I take medicine and have a hard time keeping off unwanted pounds.  However, my Master has a preference for "plush-size" girls.    So, it kind of works out for us.  He is also a BHM (big, handsome man... term which I prefer to use), and I don't mind it at all.  I have been skinny and big and have been with skinny and big.  I will say that I tend to prefer the big, solidly built men to the ones who look like they are distance runners and are very lean.  That's just my preference.  If I could lose a large amount of weight and still look pretty and feel good about myself, yes I would do it.  Although my blood tests are always normal and health wise I am ok, so the reason being would be just to look more like I did some years ago.  (However, my Master says that I looked too thin in those pictures.)  *sighs... size*  Can't please everybody...

I have come to accept myself this way, though I am still working on changing it.  I think you have to become happy with yourself at any weight and know what a valuable person you are.

I love myself as a person, but do think I would be healthier and more attractive (if that is possible) if I weighed less.  I know what health risks there are to it all, and I don't want anything to do with them.  I also want to have babies still and know that I want to give my kids a healthy outlook with food and not be raised around my "issues" with it.

My new years resolution isn't to lose weight.  Mine is to stop the bulimia, and change the way I look at food.  I believe by doing this, I will naturally lose weight.  It won't be an easy road, but one I know I have to travel.

My body is tired from the bulima for five years, and the abuse I have put it through.  Everything I have done though, can be reversed and I plan on doing it.

I hope to meet 2008 when it gets here, with a healthy body and a healthy state of mind.  If that means I am thin, so be it, if that means I am the same weight, but still both of those things, that is fine also.

Kasha

I would like to be skinny again, but I am not holding my breath, so yeah pretty happy. Being fat only bothers me when I have to go clothes shopping and NOTHING looks right cause it cuts right across the belly button emphasizing the pooch.

I have never been thin, I have been morbidly obese, and I have been what I am now, whatever you want to classify that as.  I am and have been happy with the person I am inside at every weight, I am currently happy with my body, I can hike and kayak and buy technical gear that fits.  I have found those who liked me better heavier, and those who wanted me to lose more weight.  When I am unhappy with myself or my life, it is never a result of the # of pounds I weigh, but the # of pounds of doubt, or negativity or unpleasantness

I'm fat, I don't use the term bbw, and definitely want to change.  Diabetes is extremely high in my family and I know that my current diet/exercise lifestyle pretty much invites it in and by changing both I will be able to likely avoid it and lose weight.

I would like to be able to be more physically active and wear prettier clothes.  I FEEL better when I am at a lower weight and feel more comfortable in myself.

I/m about 5'4", 38D, and consider my ideal weight to be about 140.

I have always been a huge guy. Even as a young kid in school, I was larger then kids 3-6 grades ahead of me. So I have always seen it as an advatage. Even though society trys to force every to belive it is a bad thing.

Prior to our current massive avaliblity of food all the time. The people who could put on weight very quickly during times of plenty, were the ones who survived the times of scarsity. When our current way of life passes (and it will pass eventualy, all ways of life do), and things get hard again to survive. Who do you think will make it through the lean times? The 110 lb supermodels? The guys with the 6-pack abs?  No, the same people who have always survived, the people who can quickly become fat. That is how humans (and animals in general) survive.

I have been overweight and underweight. Ive battled and overcome an eating disorder, gone through periods where I took multiple dance classes a day and followed a strict meal plan and periods where I slept twelve hours a day and ate any carb I could get my hands on.
For me, it is a combination of feeling good in my skin and, like LA said, being able to wear pretty clothes and feel really wonderful in my body.
So, Id say that although I like myself at any weight, it's when Im at a healthy weight for my body that I really feel like Im able to be in my body, which for me is very important and part of what for me is a physical, emotional and spiritually healthy life.

Julia if I didnt know you better...that statement next that that picture... I might just have been tempted to call you a mean name!

I don't think that having a large frame makes one a BBW. I think that being medically classified as obese (BMI greater than 30) or morbidly obese ( 50% or more above their ideal body weight or BMI greater than 39) makes one a BBW. I could be wrong, however. It has happened, although rarely, in the past.

I was just wondering what the real definition was for it, because it could be applied to anyone larger than the so-called "norm". I have seen people say they are BBWs that are not as overweight as that description that you posted, it makes one scratch their head (or I should say it makes me scratch my head)
