Hello all,
I am proud to say I finally convinced my group of vanilla friends to go with me to a Rocky Horror show downtown. We're all RHPS virgins and I figure we might end up getting pulled out of the audience. Unlike them, I am pretty much already set with a costume and I own the dvd, so I know the basic audience partici..................pation lines.

I'm wondering, for those of you who've gone to a show or have seen the movie, what's the craziest stuff you've done or seen happen? What'd you wear? What's the best part of the movie? Who's your fav. character? Where's the best place to f***? (In the back row)

I finally got the DVD!! I'm all sorts of jazzed... it's got the audience partici.... hee hee... pation cues! I can't wait to see it again in the theater. I went last Halloween and it was all sorts of spiffy.

I didn't dress up though since it was a spur of the moment sort of a thing. A few friends did though.

RiffRaff:
It's astounding;
Time is fleeting;
Madness takes its toll.
But listen closely...

Magenta:
Not for very much longer.

RiffRaff:
I've got to keep control.

I remember doing the time-warp
Drinking those moments when
The Blackness would hit me

Magenta:
And the void would be calling...

Transylvanians:
Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again.

Narrator:
It's just a jump to the left.

All:
And then a step to the right.

Narrator:
Put your hands on your hips.

All:
You bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane.
Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again.

Magenta:
It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me.
So you can't see me, no, not at all.
In another dimension, with
voyeuristic intention,
Well secluded, I see all.

RiffRaff:
With a bit of a mind flip

Magenta:
You're into the time slip.

RiffRaff:
And nothing can ever be the same.

Magenta:
You're spaced out on sensation.

RiffRaff:
Like you're under sedation.

All:
Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again.

Columbia:
Well I was walking down the street
just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an
evil wink.
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise.
He had a pickup truck, and the
devil's eyes.
He stared at me and I felt a change.
Time meant nothing, never would again.

All:
Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again.

Narrator:
It's just a jump to the left.

All:
And then a step to the right.

Narrator:
Put your hands on your hips.

All:
You bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane.
Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again.

Alright everyone... Let's GO!

Greetings fencerpet19,

While I love RHPS - I've never actually been able to make it through the movie/Dvd without falling asleep. Something about it relaxes me to the point of slumber. Once upon a time I knew all the audience partici...........pation pieces, but to answer your questions:
Craziest thing Iv'e done - Dressed like Riffraff while gf at the time went as Magenta.
Fav. character: Dr. Frakenfurter
Best part of movie: hmm so many but I've personally always liked the "Time warp" sequence and the "Sweet Transvestite" sequence - Tim Curry was a genius.
Best place to F: Fire exit stairwell just to left of screen.

Side note: If you like RHPS there is a cartoon (yes i said cartoon) called "Venture Brothers" that comes on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Kinda a spoof of the old "Johnny Quest" series. Anyway, they did an episode that had some RHPS ties that was fun to watch. Check it out =)

Just watching the movie is a bore. It's the participation of the audience that makes it fun. "Dammit Janet, I love you" Susan Sarandon makes a great Janet. I loved Dr. Frankenfurter. I never dressed up (conservative at the time) but I had fun anyway. Oh, the memories--thanks!!

It's been many years since I saw it in a theater; just went once and was unprepared by the audience antics but I still recall two things:

1. I think someone says something like "Let's have a toast!" and audience members started tossing pieces of toast in the air

2. I remember something about squirt bottles like you might use on plants. Maybe folks were squirting them at the beginning when Brad and the slut get to Frankenfurter's place, or maybe it was some other time.

Dunno if those are "universal" rituals or just local to that crowd in Salt Lake City. Guess you'll find out if if you get wet or hit with bread. And now that you got this started, you'll have to report back.

Ok, at the place that I go there are lot of adorable dominantrixes (dominatrix-ys? what's the diminuative of domanatrix) who like to do the "go around spanking people" thing.

Most people get hit, and then complain about how much it hurts. I, of course, have the unfortunate habit of -really liking- getting hit, especially with paddles. Especially while corseted.

The other people in line got a show :)

I went to a stage production of it back in the early 80s dressed as the lips (like in the poster) and had a seat in the front row on the aisle. Tim Curry sat on my lap to sing part of the finale, much to the chagrin of all the Magentas and Frankenfurters in the group I was with.

Best part of the movie? It's very difficult to pinpoint just one, but I love the little scene in the elevator where Riff Raff says "The master is not yet married ... nor is he ever likely to be."

Let's see, it's been an awfully long time since I went to a repertory theater version of RHPS here in Montreal, but I remember some of the following (depending on the crowd & the theater):

- seeing an actual car tire roll down the aisle when Brad & Janet get a flat (that one's rare because they are hard to smuggle in...)
- people having newspapers to protect their head when the folks with the water pistols simulated the rainshower
- I distinctly remember getting metallic confetti down my back and into my popcorn, from the wedding scene and the "Charles Atlas" scene
- candles & flashlights being used during the "There's a Light" scene
- Rubber gloves being snapped when Frank snaps his three times
- noisemakers after the "creation speech"
- Several rolls of toilet paper being tossed over the crowd when Brad cries out "Great Scott" (preferably these should be "Scott" rolls, for obvious reasons)
- Toast being thrown over the crowd when Frank proposes a toast at dinner
- Party hats being put on during the dinner scene
- Playing cards being showered over the crowd when Frank sings "Cards for sorrow, cards for pain"

That's about all I can remember, 'cuz it's been a few years...

"I'm Brad..."
Audience: "ASSHOLE!"
"... and this is my fiance Janet."
Audience: "SLUT!"

*said everytime Brad introduces himself and Janet

The movie is actually kind of mundane when you watch it by yourself. The only way to really experience it is to go to a theatre with a bunch of hard core fans and experience it with them.

What? No one mentioned hotdogs?

Who could forget the HOTDOGS!?

Hotdogs were tossed at the screen when good old Frankenfurter makes his first appearance on the screen...

That's pretty darn good. We brought rice for the infamous wedding scene and among the other things mentioned already:

The audience hissed every time the narrator came on

and one memorable line the audience shouts is 'Meatloaf again?!?" when Frankenfurter reveals that the guests have all been dining on the dear dead biker...

-laughs- They didn't allow that at the theater I went to. But I might try smuggling some in now. Many thanks for the idea. -snickers-

At the theater I went to everyone said something really dirty after while the narrator spoke.

-huge grin- I remember the meatloaf comment! That was so funny. The guy sitting next to me had no idea what people were laughing about. I think his look of confusion was almost funnier than the audience participation line.

My God it's been years scince I've been to see RHPS. This thread is definately bringing back some memories though. When I was in college, I played RiffRaff(I had really long hair back then...), who is also one of my favorite characters. As for my favorite part, I think the scene where Frankenfurter is disguised as Janet(SLUT) and sneaks into Brad(ASSHOLE)'s room.

I went to the Midnight Show on All Hallow's Eve and they set up a sheet with back lighting for this. Too funny... They were shoving things into Brad like anal was going out of style. I'm not exactly sure how they fit some of the things in there though.
