Hey Proudsub (and Y'all)-
Using soap right after using Nair irritates the skin. That is why I rinse off the nair in the bathtub with luke-warm water (scraping the nair off against the grain of the hair with a washcloth) get out, go about my business and wait a few hours to actually cleanse myself. Also, I may have really sensitive skin. The few times I've combined nair and showering I haven't used soap. The one time I did I got a horrible rash that took about two days to go away.
Also, I use the 4 minute Nair which may be stronger than the 10 minute Nair. There are so many variables.
I hope that this is helpful, though.
As Always-
Berlin

Nads never worked for me but then I have unusually long and thick hair roots. Haven't gotten a wax yet but veyr interested. I usually shave downward and leave a bit of stubble on my mound which cuts down on bumps and get it totally smooth on the lips which don't have as much problems. Does waxing get the pussy lip hairs too? I thought it only got the very visible stuff which isn't usually my issue. They don't wax your asshole or gooch I'm sure so what's the point if its only half done anyways? What should I do??? I get bumps all the time even on my legs too but thats par tof my folliculitis which sux-trust me. I haven't worn anything above the knee since I was seven. I'll give waxing a shot when I have some money or someone else who can do it for me.

A brazilian wax takes off everything, from the pussy lips to the crack of your ass,at least the way my waxer does it. It is difficult to get the lips but it can be done. The first time I had it done it hurt but I'm on my 3rd time & it hurts less each time. Just don't get it done for around 4 dys before & after your period,everything is more sensitive then according to the waxer I use. Good luck, I love it, it's so much better than shaving constantly let alone the amount of times I cut myself.

chainedgirl -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/22/2005 5:20:55 PM)

rain,

the only other option available is lasar treatment for permanent hair removal. Its supposed to sting a little but the plus side, you only need a few treatments and its gone. In cases like mine with hormal inbalances, you'd probably need one session a year for ever.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/22/2005 9:50:58 PM)

nair still stinks even scented. and it never works on me.

What I do is soak the area in hot as water as I can stand to sofen skin an open pores, lather while hot then shave and then heat again.

subversiveone -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/22/2005 11:04:56 PM)

Has anyone had much success with the new little bikini razors that run on batteries? for years ive used the Nair that is supposedly "gentle" with grean tea and aloe. it works, like someone said before, on the mound area pretty well. my only suggestion is to get your loved one to help apply or use a mirror! *blush* it has dripped further south a time or two much to my chagrin (or would that be better said, chagrimace?) ...

FelinePersuasion -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/22/2005 11:29:29 PM)

sub I had one and they werre pretty much usless for good stubble free shave. Plus the bit the pussy lips an made sores. Same with those pencil size wedge shavers they're advertising are ok for ears eyerbows thighs even balloons/

however they worked wonders on legs or armpits that was getting a lil out of control or needed a touch up

I'm glad I'm not the only one.. Nair or any cream dipilitators won't work on me.. well they might if I left the stuff on for an hour but then the skin would suffer horribly.

I tried that "Nads" stuff too.. didn't work. I've tried wax strip thingies.. but those don't work either.

So I just shave though that is tiring. My hair grows back way too fast. I have friends who can shave once a week. I have stubble by 5pm the same day.

I'm thinking about looking into that laser thing chainedgirl talked about. hmm....

sting516 -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/23/2005 2:51:10 AM)

Just wondering...the brazilian wax...is that usable on the male parts too?

ElektraUkM -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/23/2005 11:26:53 AM)

Try soaking in a warm bath for a while before you shave.

I have sensitive skin and i DO get a rash now and then, but i'm ok for the most part if i make sure i'm warm first, shave against the grain with a Venus 3 and using unscented soap for lather. I don't apply anything after because most things irritate my skin.

I'm not sure but the best thing to do would be to ask a salon. If you want to email me on the other side I can tell you where I go & you can find out directly. I live on LI too so my salon may be feasible for you.

sting516 -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/24/2005 3:35:02 PM)

sweet....thanks so much for the offer...but i was asking more in the abstract...as i prefer to wait until someone desires for me to denude myself of hair...i just wondered since you had mentioned it worked very well for you.

i appreciate your kind thought.

sweetnygirl -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/24/2005 5:08:37 PM)

I'll ask my waxer the next time I go, probably in about 4 weeks & I'll send you an email with her answer & if there is a thread ongoing at the time I'll post there as well. All I know is there is a definite lessening of both pubic hair as well as the hair on my legs & I've only been waxed 3 times. Otherwise I have to shave my legs every day in the summer & pretty much the same on the pubic area. Plus as I said no more cuts, I'm really clumsy with a razor,unless it's electric.

newflowers -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/24/2005 10:26:05 PM)

i suffered from this problem for years and no longer as i have found a solution

- number one - exfoliate your pubic region just as you would your face - in face, treat this skin the same way with the same products you use on your face.

number two - pay attention to the direction in which you shave. my hair grows in different directions so this is always hard, but if i shave in one direction only, it works.

number three - use a new razor every time. i would suggest using an electric razor, remington has a personal electric razor that costs 20 bucks and is worth its weight in gold. with it, i shave daily (wet or dry) and it has helped make the razor burn and bump problem nonexsistent.

number four - try aminogensis lotion - check out their website if you'd like. this is miracle lotion and it will heal your skin and is wonderful for sensitive skin - i would suggest using it on your entire body for one week and see if you are not hooked forevermore. it's a little pricy $44.00 for eight ounces, but it lasts for several weeks for me and i use it from head to toe.

good luck - i'm sure there are other solutions as well, but this has worked for me.

LittleMissSub -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/24/2005 10:49:25 PM)

I used to shave...did it for about 6 years off and on. I'd get the bumps too, never really had the itch non-shavers talk about, but the bumps were annoying. A couple weeks ago I went for my first brazillian wax. The girl told me that it would hurt more the first time as when you shave it makes your hair grow in all different directions.

I walked in the store at 5:00 and was out on the street walking to my car at 5:09. FAST IS KEY. When the hair grew back, it was VERY VERY thin, and there was less of it. It was also blonde instead of dark brown, and very soft. The feel of skin being waxed and being shaved wasn't even comparable. You've got to shave down not to get bad bumps, well if you feel up, you feel the stubble. When it grows back, you feel the stubble. With waxing that isn't an issue.

Yes, waxing hurts, but I can't recommend it enough. It doesn't hurt any more than a really hard slap to the pussy. And just think, it's literally less than 10 minutes. I'm sure we can all think of some things we've done for much longer than 10 minutes that we may not neccessarily been too happy about doing, or were painful. I'm just scared that one day it'll make me wet! That would be embarrassing. Like the guy who gets a hard on while getting a physical from his hot female doctor. if you've got a good waxer, they're done fast, and they're conscious of the fact that it hurts. Tell them it's your first time and they're super nice to you. You don't need to feel embarrased, it's what they do for a living. If I were a waxer, I'd be happier doing a 5 minute pussy job than a 30 minute back fur waxing. but that's me.

Oh, and as an after thought, if you shave and get bad bumps, and little cuts from shaving over the bumps and cutting them, you'll end up with scar tissue. A girlfriend of mine has scar tissue all over her mons. It looks like....razor burn, or cellulite, or a combination.

Wax ladies. WAX!!!

glassdoll -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/26/2005 5:08:10 PM)

nair? they make for the face, why not the genitals?

siamsa24 -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/26/2005 7:36:53 PM)

Be very, very, very careful using Nair on the genital area. A male friend of mine tried it and ended up with chemical burns in very nasty places. It may be different for females, but I am too chicken to try after seeing those nasty burns.

One product to say away from is Epi-Stop. I work in a drug store and have seen women come in with second and third degree chemical burns on their legs, arms, and faces. Not very fun and some required cosmetic surgery to get rid of the scaring. I am hoping that it is no longer being sold, but just thought I would throw that out there just in case.

I have been using the new Venus Divine razor blades, change it every 5 shaves and I use BikiniZone (which I think was mentioned earlier in the post). I also use Olay Quench body lotion and that helps get rid of that funny "scaley" look that sometimes happens after shaving (at least, it happens to those of us with horribly dry and sensative skin).

arwenbabysub -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/27/2005 1:40:47 AM)

I use Hair Conditioner. You get a smooth stroke with your razor and leaves your pussy soft and razor rash free.

EmeraldSlave2 -> RE: 24/7 Razor burn!!!! (4/27/2005 8:39:00 AM)

Posted this back in March on the general forum under the "shaving" topic.

OK I figure I will go ahead and put my experience up in here.

I have thick dark hair generally. I didn't shave at all until I got into bdsm actually, I never saw the point in it. Of course, I always wore jeans and sweats so it didn't matter what anyone saw or thought. Since most of my partners have preferred bare, I've gone through lots of stages on this.

Shaving:

The good part about shaving is that it's easy to do, easily accessible, fairly painless, quick and cheap
The bad part is that it takes technique, doesn't last long and can easily lead to yucky bumps and cuts

Technique?
Take a shower or bath first. The heat will open the pores and allow the blade to cut deeper.
Get in a good position for access. Generally, I sit on the edge of the tub and spread wide.
I use hair conditioner for shaving. It softens the hair more than shaving cream, and it tends to be clear so you can see through it when shaving.
I first stroke WITH the grain, always holding the skin tight with the other hand. I use strokes of about 1-2 inches, clean the blade, then another stroke. Being left-handed I start on the right, work over the mons, then do each labia.
Once I've gotten the first round down, I condition again and then work AGAINST the grain, again pulling the skin tight, taking slower and longer strokes. This will help clear nubs left from the first pass and leaves a smoother finish.
Now that you've gotten the hair clean, take care of the skin! Exfoliate the area with either a cleanser, a scrubber, a mask, whatever you prefer. This will slough off the dead skin and leave the pores free to breath and less likely to get infected.
A lot of people like using lotion with vitamin E to soften the skin and make it likely to heal fine. Some people can go a few days without needing to shave, for me hair is definitely noticeable on the 2nd day.
Try and take care of the skin, keep dry.

Depilatories:

These are nice because they are very low work, easily accessible, cheap and create a fairly smooth look
The drawbacks can be bad skin reactions/burning, the smell and for thick hair it doesn't always work

Simply put- you spread it over the skin, waiting the appropriate amount of time and then wipe it off. ALWAYS do a skin test first on a less sensitive part or a small bit of your pubic area first to make sure you won't react badly to the chemicals. Be careful with the skin afterwards.

Pluckers/Epiladies/Threading:

These are like waxing but do small bits at once rather than large strips. They are fairly accessible. They do pull the hair out by the root so it lasts longer. Unfortunately they tend to be very painful. For those who don't know threading, it's essentially looping threads around the individual hairs and pulling them all out at once. It's like a zipper for hair. And it takes longer than some other methods.

Plucking you can obviously do on your own, simply pulling out one by one. Some hair may break instead of pulling out by the root but that's normal. Plucking reduces skin damage as well.

Sugaring/Waxing

In the pro world known as a "Brazilian" or waxing off all or almost all of one's pubic hair, or one can try sugaring instead of the wax. This is messier, longer, more expensive if you go to a pro (and I DO recommend going to a pro). It also lasts much longer and over time leads to slower/less growth overall. As well, when the hair grows back, it is finer without the rough stubble feeling. It's not as accessible as shaving and at-home methods as you have to find a place that offers this service.

Also, many people have issues with new women being so close and touching their pubic area. Don't be. They are pros and do it a lot, you aren't that amazing to them. You should get most of the stickiness off before you leave the appointment, but some might remaind. As well, this does rip off the first layer of skin as well so no showering or lots of sun exposure for a day or so afterwards.

Maintenence:

Ingrown hairs and infected pores are inevitable. Some people get them more than others. You can reduce the chance of this by keeping the area very clean, possible even swabbing with alcohol, and regularly scrubbing with a loofah to reduce the dead skin accumulation. There are some creams and such out there which can help break down the bacteria and reduce red bumps so try them and see what works for you. Ingrowns are painful but not damaging and will eventually work their way out.

The things we do just to lose hair...
