ORIGINAL: submissiveEscort Take that "science" video, look at the basic principles and you have much of your answers..... 1.) stress 2.) humans are willing push things to the limits 3.) arranged things so people dont understand technology or science anymore Stress in our lives push us beyond ourselves at times and things have been arranged by ourselves and others, so that we dont understand how to cope with stress, our lives.... or even how to communicate with others or basicly LISTEN. And on top of that, people hate talking about their feelings so they bottle them up. People distrust the whole therapy and psychiatric part of science and will take a drug... smokes, alcohol, weed...socially addictive and "acceptable" (I am amazed at how many professionals and blue collar workers have their weed!).... Cream on the cake are MD's pushing "emotional pills" rather than suggesting short term therapy or getting a hold of oneself and unclog the stress and begin to live peacefull within themselves..... Just my rushed response this morning.... *Nods* Also, humanity's basic response to stress is "fight or flight" and in the modern world those options have been taken away from us. This builds more stress as we try to find a way to deal with our anxieties. I think prozac is a good thing. A VERY good thing. It's helped a lot of people. When used properly in conjunction with therapy, that is. I think expecting a wonder pill to solve someone's problems is just another symptom of the instant gratification attitude that haunts our modern society. "What, you mean I actually have to WORK to solve these problems, too? Screw that, just gimme the pill." Misst- I'm sorry that it's hard for you to find the medication you need. Sounds like your doctor has some real issues, especially if you already know that anti-depressents work well for you.
