This is some serious stuff.
While I enjoy that quote as well, beastie7, my experience in life has shown me that many people do not understand themselves, their motivations, their feelings, or any of the other things which make them a singular individual.
Accordingly, since they do not know their own self, how can they be true to it?
I dont mean this to denigrate other people. I simply think that people are ephemeral and emotionally / intellectually transient, and, to me, this is part of the charm. The ones who worry me are the ones who think they are emotionally or intellectually stable and unchanging.
Just me, etc.
