Greetings,
After struggling with Firefox suddenly not working correctly, the solution was to create and then use an entirely new profile (under WinXP, Start/Run then enter the text "firefox.exe -profilemanager" without the quotes).
All problems with Collarme.com went away, and remained away even after installing all extensions, copying over bookmarks, etc.
Hope this helps someone with a similar issue. Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
