As for the tying up an being helpless so he can do anything he wants.  he can always do anything he wants anyway  but know i am helpless and have no way whatsoever in stopping him (not that i would anyway) i find that very very hot and erotic.  That just me though.

Status: offline 		submition is a part of trust and loss of control...this is a good thing.  As the switch i am i enjoy the control from time to time but then i love it when i have no control. the feeling of raw emotions the pain to me is a way of proper disopline. the forcing or pushing of limits makes one find new light in something they normaly would not enjoy....  but thats just my opinion and u know how thats is....

You ask why? cause it's fun! it fullfills something deep inside myself and frees that part to be whole and compleat. It creates a special level of trust and communacation that most people are not as lucky to find. I wish everyone was as content as we are in our life, sadly it is quite the opposite. On the reverse side, you could ask why a man would do this to a woman, or any partner to their partner, for that matter.

To answer one part, you must also be able to answer the other- and from my point of view of the question, it's "because it compliments the other who does these things to them, and makes both feel pleased and/or gratified in some way." So, ask yourself why you would be gratified from causing this- and then look at the questions you ask again about who would enjoy recieving this- you'll find the answer to be very similar- because it fulfills something the other wants or needs in some way.

Status: offline 		I think your post boils down to one question: what kind of people are drawn to BDSM?  If you're really interested, a good starting point might be to research the literature and the manifold journals on sexual behaviour and psychology.  There may be a role for psychoanalysis in BDSM, but personally, I've given up on trying to analyse what has made me submissive, so regarding BDSM, I adopt the "It is what it is" school of thought.  Submission is what fulfils me sexually, but ask me why so, and I'm pretty much at a loss.

To answer these questions is like answering why do some people like roller coasters and sky diving and other people like to cross stitch and form organizations to help others.  Everyone has a passion, everyone has a reason and the lifestyle is not any different.  Why would a woman and or male choose to submit?  Why would a man or a woman choose to Dominate? 

i choose to submit because it is a need and want within me.  i choose to submit to my Owner because W/we have built a relationship that involves cyclical trust and motivation to grow.  i choose to submit to His pain because i need it.  There are times where my Owner is begged to take the cane, whip, etc to me because it is during that time that i am free to let go of my internal pain, of my external worries and or my imperfections.  There are times where my Owner is begged to do those things because i need to refocus and redirect my energies.  There are times where my Owner does those things because He needs to give the pain and or He needs that release.  There are times where W/we both need to just be with each other in a powerful moment and exchange the energy between U/us.  i treasure those moments and the reminds that often come after to remind me of my place and the relationship i have with my Owner.  i can not answer for others nor do my opinions reflect A/anyone else.

That's all it is, sensation and how you interpret it.

As for the nonsensation part, ask why someone would push themselves to run a marathon, causing shin problems, muscle aches etc. Because they enjoy proving something to themselves. It isn't necessary to run 26 plus miles to be fit, 2 miles a day would do that.
