No it wasn't.  The only mistake is giving the not-so-helpful responses control over your behavior or state of mind.

Focus on the people who are giving constructive advice.

This an area that I don't know much about, but I'm sure plenty of good advice will come your way.

I disagree that is was a mistake. I think people should know what edge play is, that everyone's edge is in a different place. My edge is someone elses middle. It really is a unique individual thing. For example we are talking about doing knife play soon, now some consider this edgy, and I guess it is, but my partner is an expert in self defense, weapons, and martial arts... so it is not that edgy for us.

Status: offline 		The mistake is not in the post itself but in asking for the information and not giving the reason you are looking for it so people can make a judgement as to what information you need. People respond with scepticism because often we have seen newbies and those not so new as well try to replicate edgeplay techniques with only the words they find on some website. I would rather be wrong assuming that this is the case, than wrong assuming it is not.

Ok, I kinda told you earlier, there is no strict definition. What one considers edgy another thinks is not. My Daddy is into face slapping, it has a danger element to it, some consider it edgy, others do not.

If it scares you somewhat, it has a danger element, then it is "edgy' to you.

Death and mutilation are common limits, so cutting is on the edge, and breath play (as breathing tends to be regarded as important) is as well.

For everyone, edge play will have a different meaning.  If a sub has a hard limit of pillows, making her stuff down into a cloth bag will most likely be edge play.

In BDSM, edgeplay is a subjective term for types of sexual play that are "over the edge" of the traditional safe, sane and consensual creed. Edgeplay may involve:

I am indeed into edge play.
I love knife play, fire play, extreme bondage and suspension play, extreme spanking, extreme nipple play, and needles.
My Sir is very new into the BDSM scene.
There's no bloody way in hell I would let my Sir do any extreme play till he's studied it, gone to presentations on it, and discussed it with other Dom/Domme's I know and trust.
Even then we'd try things in a public dungeon with a monitor asked to keep an eye on us aware this is a new method of play he's trying or in a private home with an experienced Dom spotting us.
Extreme play is where the sub's life is literally in your hands and not something to wrong or take lightly.
I've been doing extreme play for two years and do not trust my own judgment and knowledge enough as experienced to think my Sir and I should attempt the things I like alone yet.
I agree if you want to learn enough to play with this sub you should at minimum find another experienced person in your public community to help you learn to play safe.

Every time I read a posting from you.. My gut reaction is 'Edge play for a sub..... would be playing with an idiot Dom who knows nothing about it...  and gets pissed off when people try to help him.'
