I grew up on 3/4 of an acre in the south bay area of Los Angeles.
We usually had a couple of ducks running around the yard. They would follow me around because I would turn over ivy leaves and expose snails and bugs for them to eat.
They do stink. They need some water. Their eggs taste lovely.
They tended to be annoyed by the sheepdog we had as she generally insisted on trying to herd them.
Just me, etc.
