Here's the latest of my ponderings.

i cant help but wonder what it is like on the other side of the fence.

Listening to the news of ever growing atrocities, torture, expansionism and policies to support the same, etc, would it be fair if the middle eastern societies were to see us in the very same light we seen Hitler?  Any thoughts?

Touchy subject.  So, I'll jump in and worsen the situation.

First off, Hitler was a person.  We (Or you, as I'm a dirty Canuck) are a country.  To draw an adequate comparison, you'd have to be calling Bush their Hitler, or us Nazi Germany.

Of the two, I would say the latter is the better comparison. 

Due to a terrorist attack, the legeslative gave the executive significantly more power, propaganda has convinced much of the population that a significant threat exists from outside, and that, in order to minimise this threat, the country must be secured against foreigners, human rights reduced, freedoms taken away, and usual judicial measures suspended.

We just have not figured out if September 11th was America's Reichstag.

Of course. Playing devils advocate here....... A soveriegn country was invaded. A new form of government was imposed without any real consultation of the masses, and to many the figures of that new government are little more than puppets, a new and violent set of law enforcers was deputised answerable only to themselves and to a small extent the occupying forces. When the French, Polish and Dutch bombed street corners and barracks it was gallant resistance, in Baghdad it is terrorism

I actually get the Al Jazeera network news station here in the UK, and as in any situation the truth right now depends on which side of the fence you stand, and in the future the truth will be written by the eventual victor.

yes that has been a reocurring thought for me as well.

yes i guess this is not politics and a joke to some and that is why it is moved to here.  Frankly i feel it is very serious issue.
