I said 'xenophobic ears' as in train your ears to listen to a wider variety of noise. As for my music being shite, its better than the regurgitated pap of the Libertines etc. it's all been done before and better.

Yeah ... the dominant male here has something like 11,000 (I kid you not), records, cassettes and CD's. They listened to some good stuff in the 70's. I'm not getting the 80's so much ... the new wave just sucks if you ask me, and some hair bands are alright if they have a serious musician. My favorite game is to take an old band and play it for my friends as some "new" music I found. [;)]

They're pretty popular here. A little too tame for me. I tend to go for harder stuff. No love for Mastodon? They're the best live group I've seen in a while. Very serious musicians. I used to hate metal ... but find it's my thing lately.

They were the last band in my first list. You will probably hate them ... they are REALLY loud. BUT ... I've been to a lot of concerts in the last few years, and these guys were absolutely the best musicians I've eard. Believe it or not, the homeless looking guy with the scruffy beard was a child prodigy as a pianist.
