katzschen -> Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/8/2007 6:23:24 PM)

What are your recommendations for floggers/whips/paddles/crops, etc. for a masochist with a somewhat low pain tolerance in this department?

RubberWitch -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/8/2007 7:57:27 PM)

start off over clothes. it's cheaper to undress than restock your toychest everytime your pain threshhold rises

Thanks, that's a good idea, I'll have to try that. But I don't have a problem with having a big toy collection (more to play with), so are there any other suggestions out there?

Floggers:
light-Unbraided soft nylon rope (no knots), silk, velvet, suede, deerskin, buffalo, elk
[light floggers]

Not as sure about paddles, crops, and whips. Seems the best paddle is the Master's hand. :)

floggers   with lots of tails  that are wide.  stay aware of narrow  falls  cause  narrow will hurt more then wide.   flat ends instead of ones that  come to a point  are good  something that eds in a tip like this /\ is bad if u have a low pain tolerince.   umm thats the best  I got to offer.

Good thread, I really hope more ppl put ideas out.

To the OP, have you tried to see what types of pain are bad pain? I can take a paddle but not sharp pain like nipple clamps. It has been a lot of trial and error for me but it's worth the effort *s*.

Yes, I know what you mean. But I've found that overall I just have a low pain tolerance. -_-

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I will check them out. =^-^=

bandit25 -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/9/2007 7:23:49 PM)

Deerskin floggers are pretty thuddy.  They don't really hurt hurt.  Stay away from canes.  Those suckers hurt like the dickens.  I rather like crops myself...for some reason they don't seem to bother me much.  Course if you start slowly, you'd be surprised at how much you can take and it really doesn't hurt badly.

Add in a couple of vibrators and the pain seems to disappear...LOL!

Oh yeah, I think JT Stockroom has an ouch factor on their toys.  check them out.

submarriner -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/9/2007 7:33:53 PM)

Rabbit Floggers (or Mink if you care to indulge) gives two sensations; light blows that are well tolerated, or soft caressing stimulations. If floggers are not your cup of tea, electrical play can vary from light massage too sharp bites. Vibrators used as teasing stimulation can bring desire followed by denial (a means of torture without pain). Mind fucks (a deception of more pain threatened than actually delivered) can keep a Masochist off balance with anticipation and fear with little pain. Adjustable clamps to control the amount of pressure applied, can be used for nipple or genital clamping (controlled pressure thus controlled  pain). Temperature changes from hot to cold, or vice versa, could meet your pain limitations. And finally wax play using low temperature candles, held 12 inches away from the skin (longer distances allow cooling of the wax before it contacts the skin) can provide pain on a limited basis. As your pain tolerance changes, the same techniques can be applied with more force to meet your new pain acceptance level. Have fun and pleasant journey

cjenny -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/9/2007 7:39:58 PM)

Oh yes.. agreeing with bandit. Crops give me the right kind of pain lol.
Canes ouch, switches ouch.
Floggers yay.
Whartenberg (sp?) wheel.. both.
Metal cuffs hurt my wrists badly but ties don't.
If I am comfortably positioned that makes a big difference too, something like a sexsling keeps me restrained yet supported.
Looking at my fast list I agree with the thuddy theme put out by the rest. Oh, idea.. they make a girdle type thing but with cushy parts to make the butt look bubbly... I bet I could take a caning with that on!

I'm all distracted now lol.

*stamped IMO & TMI

Thank you all for the replies that were both informative and made me laugh. =^-^=
I will definitely check some of these out and perhaps post my adventures and experiments afterwards, to share with other masochists with lower pain tolerances. I definitely like the idea of the site with the ouch factor. I've seen a similar idea in play at sub-shop, with a strictness rating.
Thanks again =^-^=

I would recommend the Wiffle line of BDSM equipment...the darker side of the company that appeals to the lighter side. ;)

sadomasokisti -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/10/2007 1:55:34 AM)

hmmm... there should also be more than one intensity setting or level on each persucusion toy ;)

One of my favorite is very light spatula/slapper/wooden stick.  Paint stirrer?   Applied lightly but very rapidly for some period on the same spot.  I'ts not painful... at least in the beginning but after some time you just "have to" get rid of it.

LeatherBentOne -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/10/2007 6:41:19 AM)

Be aware that any toy can illicit any intensity of pain you wish.  A flogger can be used in sensual play and pain play by either dragging the tails across the skin as a relaxation method or a surprise thud/sting that makes a maso's butt/shoulder quake.  It's all in how you use them.  I have used canes for sensual play and used canes to illicit welts.  Same toy, different use.  The toy makes absolutely no difference to me.

I personally like the neoprene flogger, it is beautiful (moreso than any I have ever seen), it is thuddy, you can take a pretty good impact without a lot of pain.  I have a low pain threshold as well, but I have experienced it on my back, my ass, my stomach and breasts and my feet, and never felt it was more than I could handle.  I think to look at it, you would be frightened, but it is deceptively mild, IMHO.

Now, the smaller version of the neoprene flogger (a tit whip) for some reason, made of the same material, just smaller and thinner, is wicked and I do not like it.  It is more than I can handle.

Do you have any links to where one can purchase or at least see pictures of these types of floggers? Thanks.

Well, I may have to revise what I said.  When I got the flogger (about 8 years ago) I referred to it as "my rubberband flogger".  I was corrected by many (who hadn't seen it) and was told it was a neoprene flogger.  I have been calling it that ever since.

However, I just tried to do a search on neoprene flogger for you, and the illustrations provided, are definitely NOT the flogger I have.  So maybe I really DO have a rubberband flogger.

I got it from a store in New York City, I think it was called Tic-Tac-Toe....or something like that.  Maybe someone here is familiar with the store (I have since moved away).   It was electric blue and I do have a photograph of it that I can send to you.  The strands on this flogger are much thinner and there are many, many more of them than the neoprene floggers I was able to find on the web.  It is really one of the prettiest floggers I have ever seen.

FangsNfeet -> RE: Masochist with a Low Pain Tolerance (1/15/2007 11:44:21 AM)

Sued, rope, horse hair, and rabbit fur for whips and floggers. Paddles can also be padded with some type of fur as well.

Just remember one thing. A toy will only hurt as hard as the person using it.
