If you don't mind....I'd like to bounce some thoughts off the members of this forum.

I've started compiling a list of what one might call "virtues" - sort of guideposts to the desired mindset in submission.  It is my opinion that statements and actions should reinforce desires, just as desires shoudl motivate statements and actions.  I hope that makes sense.

So far I've decided upon:

Grace
Mindfulness
Integrity
Transparency
Service

Any thoughts or suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

I would add patience, obedience and maturity.

A few years ago Master gave me an assignment involving such 'virtues'. I had to identify 10 traits or qualities that I deemed a priority in my slavery. I then selected a person for each trait..a person in the leather community that exemplified a specific quality on my list.

The qualities I selected

  1. Self-confidence: Confidence in oneself or one's own abilities
  2. Grace: Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.
  3. Spiritual center/development/focus: The state, quality, manner, or fact of being spiritual. affecting the soul
  4. Courage: The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession
  5. Educating:Sharing knowledge as I learn
  6. Integrity: Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code
  7. Compassion : humanity, consideration, benevolence, altruism, Unselfish concern for the welfare of others
  8. Humility  : modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not arrogant or prideful, Humble, obedient,
  9. Dignity : The quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect, respectability, composure, gallant demeanor
  10. Trusting: To have or place reliance; dependance, reliance, faith in each other, 
  

There was more to this assignment but this was the focus.

I don't see how these apply ONLY to submissive. I think these are all great qualities for a healthy person. Nice lists!

I agree, anything that makes for a good person will make for a good submissive.

So I'll go with self-aware and refuses to settle.

My list of things I strive for as a slave:
Willingness (to learn, grow, be instructed, to experience, etc.)
Obedience (to my partner, and to my own values as well)
Trust (both trusting and trustworthy)
Openess (to new things, to learning, to life, etc.)
Confidence (in self, in partner, in capacity to live a fulfilling life, etc.)
Strength (to get through things that are difficult, to be myself, etc.)
Grace (in what I do and how I act)
Compassion (for myself and others around me)
Awareness (of myself and others, of the world around me, etc.)
Gratitude (to partner and self, to be grateful for life and living, for the things provided in this life, etc.)
Acceptance (of my partner, my life, and myself, of new things, etc.)
Esteem (for myself, my partner, and those I surround myself with)
Enthusiasm (for doing what is expected of me, for living life, for being with my partner- the list could go on)
Passion (for life, for everything I do, for my partner and myself)
Loyalty (to my partner, our relationship, and myself)

I agree with those listed by others, but find one lacking in all. I would add Creativity. Without a good imagination you merely wait to be instructed or repeat endlessly. Imaginative service anticipates His needs and shows devotion.
