katzschen -> Spartacus Ball Gags - A Question (1/9/2007 9:59:58 PM)

For anyone else who owns a ball gag made by Spartacus Leather:

Two other people besides myself so far, friends of mine noticed a bad taste and an odd, tingling or almost burning sensation in one's mouth with it in use. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to successfully get rid of it? They were fairly pricey gags and I'd hate to have to waste them due to the nasty taste.

There was a thread similar to this recently:  http://www.collarchat.com/m_745625/tm.htm

Thank you, LadyJulieAnn. However, that thread did not have the answer I'm seeking. I'm certain this is not an allergy, as the same thing happened to not one, but two of my friends, who don't know each other in any way. I could wrap it in tape, but it is a very pretty purple swirl ball gag, and I feel to wrap it in tape would take away from it. Has *anyone* had any success getting rid of the taste?

Try washing the ball in alcohol several times, followed by washing with soap and water. Sun bleaching may also take out some of the taste (leave out in the sun for several hours, followed by washing with soap and water). Are you certain the ball is made out of silicon and not latex? The description is consistent with a latex allergy, and they are more common than silicon allergies.

I don't know what it is made out of, I can't remember and I don't have the package. But I do know for sure that I am not allergic to latex. I might try those suggestions, after I look up what the ball is made of. Thank you.

What ever it is, it in not good.  I can't remember the last time I had a spartacus product, but I think I had a similar reaction.  Mr S/Mrs S Leather has a nice one that has some boning that helps spread the pressure and make it more secure AND more comfortable if that makes sense.
