I haven't maintained many long-term friendships with folks I've met online, except for one person whom I have been with for 12 years and had a child with.

I met my late Master/ my soulmate in a msn chat room and we started off as friends then dated...I am so shy it's the only way I can meet people lol...

I met someone over eight years ago on another site BDSM site, and married him two years ago.  I've also made some really great friendships online--the longest has lasted almost ten years now.

I know that I'm probably in the lucky minority, but i've met friends and lovers online.  While no one seems to have been the fabled "One" , I can honestly say i've never had a truly negative or otherwise unpleasant experience with those i've met online.  (aside from possible dissapointment  in the absence of a mutual "spark" )

I do love to hear the success stories.

Yes I met my husband on collarme.  We have been married almost 3 years now happily I might add.

I have met a several people on line. (1) The first Dom I ever served (that was probably the best experience), (2) one really toxic man, (3)a good friend,  (4) a helluva decent play partner, (5)....my husband. 

#1, 3, & 4 I would do over again.

# 2 & 5 - I wish I could erase.

Yes, I've met a few friends but we had not stay in touch.

I have met an ex boy friend on the internet (we were together for 3 1/2 years) and I found my beloved Sir and Companion (5 years ago). it's easier for me to be myself behind a computer; what you read is what you get lol.

really bad things can happpened on the net but some pretty stories can happened too.

Sometimes it works both ways...

Some admittely do hide themsleves behind the computer and one should always follow common sense.

Some express themsleves more freely in text and phone rather than in person.

It allows them to focus on the content rather than body language, eye contact, voice inflection ect.

I have used it to cut thru the ice...then when meeting in person both parties know somewhat what the other repects and thinks.

This is of course more effective if the communication has evolved past the typical fantasy part and involves more than just sophmoric approach to BDSM...
