For what it's worth, I am a member of Mensa (which I almost never mention, btw, because it's almost always prone to provoke misunderstandings) - but, I mention it because I will say that there are several people in my local Mensa group who are obviously highly intelligent, but some have never attended college,(although many have Ph.D's), and two of the men I am friends with in that group, whom I know pretty well, are in blue collar jobs. One is a contractor, and the other one is a bricklayer. Btw, the big joke in Mensa is - "If I'm so smart, why aren't I rich?" HAHAHA (and that is a good question). The answer is because, smart doesn't equal ambitious, probably (just a guess). Pardon me while I refuse to define myself as either a "white collar" female or a "blue collar" female, no disrespect, truly, intended. Mensa has members who have never graduated from high school, even. It may be the exception the rule, but white-collar and educated doesn't always equal successful, and going to college doesn't always equal your standard, academic, definition of "intelligent". I can think of a few "white collar" folk I'd not want to spend a lot of time with, and some "blue collar folk" I really have a lot of fun with, and enjoy being around (of course the reverse is true, as well). When I attended the local university in my hometown, the average ACT score of many people there was about 19 or 20. You certainly don't have to be a genius, or even necessarily all that ambitious, I don't think, to attend, or even graduate, from some colleges these days (if people ever did). The university I attended was not an "Ivy League" school, but it was an accedited, four-year university, with a graduate school. So there you go. Just my two cents. - Susan
