I thought his "point" was pretty obvious.  White-collar women want blue-collar men because white-collar men are pussies.

It must be lovely to live in such a simple world.

Interesting.  i think i am white collar (i am a legal assistant soon to be going back to school for her JD),  i can say i would never date or be owned by an attorney (i work with 'em i know how full of bs they are), i would not date an accountant (yawn), but i have been owned by a softwear engineer and a general contractor (fancy word for handiman).  i guess it depends on the person.  One thing is a definite they must have a JOB.

I will attempt to retrive the article.  To add to this a personal observation.  I worked in the State Parole Dept. and was at one time assigned to the fugitive section.  In the area where I worked there is a very "High Dollar" "Upscale"  area and so forth.  We would go to their homes because their name showed up on the fugitive reports and the women would deny ever knowing the guy.  Most if not all worked in the High Rise, Corperate, Law Firm, Stock Exchange Companies and drive the BMW, etc.  We stake out the parking area of the companies and sure enough.  We see them drive up together, she get out and he would move to the driverside and start to drive off, then we bust them both.  I also admit alot of the fugitives had drug related charges so that is also a big factor.  Well Educated, MBM, making good money.

I wish you well

I am white collar, and MOST of my prior partners were white collar.  I have dated blue collar if they have intelligence and are happy in what they do.  Being agressive doesn't mean they have to drag their hairy knuckles on the ground as they walk.  There are many ways to get what they want.
PERHAPS.. these white collar women who seek out blue collar men are really just widening their field of opportunity.  Which in its own way is another form of agressive behavior.
No one blinks an eye when white collar men are found dating blue collar women.

Maybe it doesn't really have anything to do with white-collar v blue-collar.  i think women are attracted to men who have JOBS.

Interesting note. I am a Dominant female that owns a Construction company, I build residential primarily. I've dated blue collar and white collar males. My last 3 sub males have all been blue collar, including the one that I have now who is an ex gorean Master.

I don't really see a big difference between the two except the blue collar guys usually have rougher hands from doing labor. I grew up around these sort of men so they are what I am used too. Other then that, no real difference.

I could never be a sub or a slave to a male, to me that is just unthinkable. I am not wired that way, my natural order is Dominant but to each his/her own.

For what it's worth, I am a member of Mensa (which I almost never mention, btw, because it's almost always prone to provoke misunderstandings) - but, I mention it because I will say that there are several people in my local Mensa group who are obviously highly intelligent, but some have never attended college,(although many have Ph.D's), and two of the men I am friends with in that group, whom I know pretty well, are in blue collar jobs.

One is a contractor, and the other one is a bricklayer. Btw, the big joke in Mensa is - "If I'm so smart, why aren't I rich?" HAHAHA (and that is a good question). The answer is because, smart doesn't equal ambitious, probably (just a guess). Pardon me while I refuse to define myself as either a "white collar" female or a "blue collar" female, no disrespect, truly, intended.

Mensa has members who have never graduated from high school, even. It may be the exception  the rule, but white-collar and educated doesn't always equal successful, and going to college doesn't always equal your standard, academic, definition of "intelligent". I can think of a few "white collar" folk I'd not want to spend a lot of time with, and some "blue collar folk" I really have a lot of fun with, and enjoy being around (of course the reverse is true, as well).

When I attended the local university in my hometown, the average ACT score of many people there was about 19 or 20. You certainly don't have to be a genius, or even necessarily all that ambitious, I don't think, to attend, or even graduate, from some colleges these days (if people ever did). The university I attended was not an "Ivy League" school, but it was an accedited, four-year university, with a graduate school. So there you go. Just my two cents.

I dunno, LaM, it seems to me that it would take a lot of work to be so determined to not SEE anything or anyone who does not fit in his world.  The mental gyrations he has to engage in when he bumps right up against someone who is the antithesis of what he blindly believes must be quite complicated!

It is called a logical fallacy of moving from the specific to the general...

Such as "I owned a Toyota, and my brother owned a Toyota, both cars broke down a lot, therefore all Toyotas suck" It is really rather common, and it is the rationale that leads to racism and other forms of prejudice

quote:

Fallacy: Hasty Generalization Also Known as: Fallacy of Insufficient Statistics, Fallacy of Insufficient Sample, Leaping to A Conclusion, Hasty Induction.
Description of Hasty Generalization
This fallacy is committed when a person draws a conclusion about a population based on a sample that is not large enough. It has the following form:
  1. Sample S, which is too small, is taken from population P.
  2. Conclusion C is drawn about Population P based on S.

Yes, many races experience the consequences of such types of opinions.  I hope you only hold yours to careers, though.

And you're aware that people have the same freedom to discount your opinions as prejudiced, right?

Just checking.

That's kinda how I took it......and it's not even remotely true. I just returned from a  '5 gym' power-lifting tournament an hour ago, and in many of the men's over 40 categories /weight classes, the white-collar boys cleaned up and stole the show.

I really don't think "class" matters in what kind of person you are, it doesn't even really indicate your income, not the the way it used to - I know working class guys that make more money that white collar office workers - I think it's just a lingering perception from back in the days when it did matter socially, and people weren't supposed to marry "beneath them".

I think the point is, you shouldn't limit yourself according to class, it just doesn't mean what it used to, in spite of the conservative distaste for labor - and that's a good thing - whether it's a lawyer that does it for you or a laborer.

i agree 100%, when i said i would not date or be owned by an attorney or an accountant (funny how that did not offend), it was said tongue-in-cheek as i will be an attorney in the not too distant future.  i have known Supreme Court Justices (state level) that have zero class and ditch diggers who could sit at a function with dignitaries (sp?) and fit in as one.

For me personally, I have no desire to "keep up with the Joneses", and go into massive debt doing it, so I'm more inclined toward the the less yuppified types - I have reasonably bourgeoisie tastes, but also a bohemian, minimalist side that means I'm not driven to have the latest model car or the newest gadget, unless I actually need it for some reason.

I don't lack ambition, it just happens to lie in other directions, so I sure don't want anybody around who is going to end up miserable on my account - if you have your own income, thats fine, I don't need or want your money. It's just that a lot of compatability has to do with what direction you see your life headed.
