Sorry Akasha...I've been thinking about this post all day.  I have a "thing" about diamonds.

Of course all of these diamonds are certified as to country of origin and are not conflict diamonds?  Nor are the diamonds from "pipes" at one time belonging to the Nazis (i.e. stolen from German or Dutch Jews, who prior to WWII controlled most of the diamond mines in Africa) and therefore you can trace legitimate ownership?  And the gold was mined in either pre-Apartheid South Africa, post-Apartheid South Africa, or a country with equity and parity towards the gold miners?  Don't get me started on the platinum...

congrats.  Love you, dear.  How about a lovely semi-precious stone in American silver to commemmorate the event, so you don't have a little microcosm of greed, blood and hate on your ring finger.

E.

Edited to add:  And I just noticed you send people to PETA?  hmmmmm...

Congratulations.
There is a choice between elaborate and simple. What is your taste?
I like the elaborate ones (1 and 3) and consider 1 to be more feminine and I prefer that one. I dislike 4 visually.

That is just looking at the rings. If I knew you in real life, my answer might be different, as a ring must fit or suit the person that wears it.

So, making the choice is up to you. Perhaps you should print out the pictures and attach them to the wall. Choose the one that draws your eye most.

Emperor has a point about the origin of the diamond and gold.  If that's traceable, it's worth checking up on.

I am big on burnished or bezel settings also. A good friend of mine made a ring for me (she is a well known jewelry designer and manufacturer in NYC)like her own wedding band. The only difference is hers is in platinum and mine is 18K yellow gold, considerably less expensive. It is a big heavy band and has all bezel set stones and never snags on clothes or gloves. I love wearing it because it is so unusual and heavy. And most of all I never have to worry about loosing any of the stones.

Congratulations!

Number 3 would be my choice in white gold.

Congratulations Akasha.  When I got engaged, I could never find the right ring, so we had one made.  I kept it simple and even now I am still a fan of the band style rings.  Eternity bands in particular.  Many different stones and styles you can do with them.  They don't catch on clothing and you don't knock it into things.

#4 is beautiful, the band settings especially.  Pick the one that just grabs you.  Go try them on, see what they look like on your hand.

Best of luck to you both.

I like 2 it is simple and elegant- but I'd want two more prongs put on it.
Look for a ring with 6 it is more secure

I'm a fan of #3 - it strikes me as less ostentatious than some of the others, which is more my style.  And, of course, done completly in conscience-clear materials.  *smile*

What matters is what you like, though.  You're the one that gets to wear it, hopefully for a very long time.

A thousand congratulations to you both.

~Holly, who now abandons thoughts of lovely little boxes with gold, platinum or diamonds inside *sniff*

Hey there, girlie...  I liked the one that you showed me on the flip side weeks ago.  That was really pretty.
I do not like 4 or 5 at all.  Pear and marquise are my least favorite shapes.
I think 1 is too "busy."
I like 2 and 3, or as another person said, take 4's band with a different shape center stone.
*sigh*
But that's just me...

ps ~ white gold

You and your Master have my and Daddy's best wishes.

Kasha ---

Best wishes to you and your master for every happiness!

Just in case this wasn't complicated enough, I thought I'd raise the question of what the wedding ring will look like. You might want something that will nestle sweetly with it. I lean toward the classic simplicty of rings two and five (which would work nicely with a band, I think).

Cheers,

DC

Yaaaay, congrats.. all the ring choices are pretty.  I do not like dimonds, I never have, but ring four cought my eye, so that's the one I'd go for.  For myself, I chose opals, 5 Australian opals, they are soft and I have to be very careful with them, but they glow with a life of their own.

Best wishes,
Dancer

Wow, thank you all for the great responses and well wishes, it means a lot to me, really.

I have now left it up to Master and he will look at opinions, then pick the one he wants out of these, or maybe ones I don't even know about... never know what he has up his sleeve.

If I get one that has a big stone I want something very simple for the band, I love diamonds, but I am not really a flashy person.

Thanks again...

Kasha
