"Saudi Arabia believes the Iraqi government is not up to the challenge and has told the United States that it is prepared to move its own forces into Iraq should the violence there degenerate into chaos, a senior U.S. official told NBC News on Tuesday."

So exactly what percentage of total world oil supplies would be controlled by Monkeyboy's buddies, aka the House of Saud?

Next you will see this idea jumped on by the Chimp In Charge as a way to "win the war."

They were saying this sort of thing a few weeks ago.  Seems like their entry to "protect" the Sunni population would just encourage Iran to come "rescue" the Shiite's.

There has to be some especially nasty Colonel in the Iraqi Army by now.  Maybe we should just give 'em a replacement for Saddam who understands how to play ball.

Well, the Saudis are marginally better than the Iranians, and would cause the Iranians to chill somewhat.   Cause at present we are in political bed with them.  I agree a colonel might be hanging around, but we would have to set up his power structure behind the scenes pull out and let him go to it..........we couldn't champion him in anyway, in fact we would have to wring our hands to the press.

They shoulda dusted off Saddams lapels, said sorry, we misspelled it on the orders, you go on about your business but, since we are in the neighborhood, seems like these documents had a funny  squiggly line that was misread and it said  Iran, but we cant understand what you towlies  scribble anyway, so can we use you for a base, and visit your neighbor?

but that avenue is lost, but there we would have been at least in the right coordinates on the war on terror.

Ron

Makes sense.  The Saudis signed the agreement to only sell oil for US dollars, which props up our economy.

The House of Saud has had it pointed out to them that reneging on that agreement has relatively dire consequences for their continued rule.

So now we are going to have a regional conflageration with the Saudi Arabia, Israel and Britain (trying to wriggle free) behind the US and Russia supplying and backing up Iran with the possibility of material help from China.

Great! Bush and his henchmen have just about managed to start up a new cold war in an effort to corner the oil market.
