MistressYlwa -> Katrina - Can't Go Home Yet (1/18/2007 8:49:37 PM)

Millions have pored in to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Yet my own home is still gone and the city in disrepair. We aren't New Orleans, so we don't get all the press. But we are victims, as are the people of Mississippi and Alabama, that we never hear about. One example of why my hometown, as well as many others, have still not recovered, is this: quote:
For instance, take the "Road Home Program", which has paid a company called ICF International over $60 million to issue $4 million in checks. The program is intended to assist victims in getting back into "livable housing," and will manage the distribution of $7.5 billion in federal relief money. http://fraudwar.blogspot.com/2006/12/road-home-for-katrina-victims-is.html Only one of many frauds perpetrated against those affected by the hurricane. Now the government is going to audit agencies and companies who were given funds for recovery. Little good that does now, over a billion dollars and a year+ later. Isn't there an individual or government agency that was responsible for doing this all along? I don't know, which is why I ask. Someone should be accountable for this. Mistress Ylwa
