Did you set goals for yourself when you were younger?
Did you achieve them?

I have always been a very goal oriented person.  Drives most folks around me nuts cuz everything has to be "just so" and if I have set my mind on something I can be quite relentless.  Is good in some cases and others, not so good.

I have achieved the goals for myself that I put any amount of energy into.  The others must have just been passing fancies.

Yes and yes

I have set a few goals, some of them I did not reach, others I have reached, and a couple I am still striving to reach.

Setting goals for ourselves is something everone does. Some are attainable some are not. It does not whaether we fail or succede it's that we indevored to put our thoughts in to action by doing. if we should fail then we learn what our mistakes are and where we made them and try not to make the same mistakes again and then we start again. The insanity would be not to try some thing diffrent and to expect diffrent results.

the short version keep making them it give us something to live for and mike life worth living

I set goals.  I still have them on a piece of paper in my scrapbook.  I made all but one.
Wanted to be a millionairre well make my first million by the time I was 25.  Didn't make it..took a while longer.

I still make goals today for myself.  though they are much smaller all of my huge hurdles have passed.

No. Just a vague idea I wanted to travel and make art. I do both but I've never burdoned myself with ambitions that would ruin the experience because I didn't manage to get as far as I wanted. Though I've probably exceeded any realistic goals I might have had.

Yeah.

1) Between the age of 3 and 15, I set myself the goal of playing football for a living (was always football daft). Had trials for a first division team which started off with 45 young lads, was invited back as it was narrowed down to 20, was invited back as it was narrowed down to 10. Basically, the club took 5 lads on every year so I had a decent chance being in the last 10. The night before when I should have been resting I was out playing football and done my knee right in - was in hospital all night in agony. That was that fucked.

2) Between the ages of 16-26, every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night I went out of my front door with the goal of having a good night out in bars and clubs and at the very least getting my cock sucked. Good times. At university, add Sunday and Monday to that.

Tuesdays, I gave my cock a welcome break.

3) From 26-33, I set myself the goal of growing up - learning a few things, developing, being responsible, building a career for myself.

4) From 33-115, enjoy life - work hard, snare a partner, eat well, drink well, travel, read, learn etc.

I set goals all the time, and try to make sure they are realistic. I see no purpose in setting goals that are pie-in-the-sky.

I'm pretty much driven towards my goals, and stop at nothing make them reality. I'll leave that up to the individual reader, to decide if that's a good thing.

My most ambitious goal was to play at Wimbledon. I made the US Open (it wasn't "open" back then but was the USLTA championships at Forest Hills) and I made the pre-Wimbledon tournament at Queens, but only made it as a spectator at Wimbledon. I am still proud of my achievements though.

Hey, good work proud sub, played a bit of tennis myself at county standard (not anywhere near Wimbledon level though).
You made the US open? Impressive. What year? Who did you play?

Thanks. It was 1964-69 that i played at a national level. Did well in collegiate tennis, won my conference. At the US Championships in 1965 i lost to a gal from Sweden named Eva Lundquist, we played on the clubhouse court and i was nervous as hell. I did have the thrill of playing Billie Jean at a tournament at Orange, New Jersey. It was her first appearance after her first Wimbledon championship, so it got a lot of publicity. I think i got 2 games LOL.  Basically, i was good enough to get into the big tournaments but not good enough to go very far in them, but it was fun.

Basically, that is very impressive. 64-69? did you see the Aussie player Rod Laver knocking around the dressing rooms? He won a few grand slams - think he won the US oen year, certainly won Wimbledon and the Oz open a few times.

I never set goals for myself when I was" younger". By age 30 I made lists and crossed things off as I did them. Thats works pretty well. I still do that.

I think this kinda reflects my life thus far. I have done more and gone farther in life than I ever could have dreamt of as a kid.

Yes.  I had a rather silly set of goals in high school.  I wanted to be the homecoming queen and the captain of the volleyball team.  I did achieve them, but really wasn't better of because of my effort and certainly not better prepared for the 'real world.' My goals now exist to stretch myself, not necessarily achieve the actual standard.  So some of my goals are a little unrealistic, but fun to work towards. I can sum up the majority of them in one.  I want to seek to understand more than I seek to be understood.  I feel this goal will lead me to meet many other goals and realize new ones.
