LTRsubNW -> Republican, Mel Martinez, Florida BULLSHIT. (1/19/2007 8:38:18 PM)

I just spent an hour listening to all the Republican hoohah leading up to the big applause of Mel Martinez.  The new "Mr. Big" in Florida.  (Note:  I'm on the left coast).

He's Mexican, so we can all applaud ourselves for being diverse...and if you listened to him...he assuaged all the voters. He's Republican.  He met all the appropriate criterion.

All of it.

Lemme tell you...I was a Republican...I still am (to some degree), but I'll tell you a secret;...they're all a bunch of fucks.

The Democrats ain't any better...in fact I think they're worse...except...I think the Republicans are worse.

(Okay...they're both worse).

I was never one to think, years gone by, that there was a plan...some pre-written prerogative.

I already have mine...I'm covered...so don't concern yourself that I haven't gotten myself covered and I think "the man" is gonna take me down.

I'm so well covered, the man could take me down 17 times...and I'd still have my ass covered.  I'm not complaining about my take...it's yours I'm concerned about.

There's a plan, and you ain't in it.

Guess what?  The plan is to fuck you.

Sorry...I got a little pissed watching this guy on TV, making his acceptance speech. He was so clearly prompted to say all the right things and everyone was clapping at all the right places and I was just thinking "everyone's buying into all this crap...I can't believe no one is seeing this guy has no clothes".

I used to be an idealist and think these guys actually gave a shit.  I've come to a much different conclusion about these politicians as I've gotten older.

(I probably emphasised a few too many non pertinent points to make mine...I was seeing red when I was typing...won't happen again :)

First off, he's Cuban. Not Mexican.
Second, he is a Bush yes-man.
Third, he is just as stubborn as Bush.

And this is exactly the type of guy that the GOP leadership and elites love. However I think the GOP voters are getting tired of it. That's why guys like McCain are going to have trouble getting nominated for 2008. There is a split starting to develop in the GOP. One side still worships Bush, supports illegal immigration and free trade unions, and supports cutting taxes while increase spending. While the other side is starting to break away from that.

Having now had an entire morning and a good portion of the afternoon to reflect on my original post, I would have to say, if there was ever a time when I could honestly say I sounded and acted like a complete and total asshole...this would have to be one of the top three.

I went out with a buddy of mine last night, had far too much to drink, saw this dude on television, was flabbergasted that he was such a parrot (and that he'd won) that I just started writing stuff without thinking...that at the time I wrote it, it seemed entirely logical and I honestly thought my emphasis made a point (obviously not), and when I got up and saw it again...it was sooooo ugly and arrogant.

I'll just be over ------------------>>> if anyone wants to throw water balloons.
