I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, but I've just recently finished a composite Photoshop scene that I thought was pretty cool. Just wanted to get some opinions, or maybe suggestions for another one. It's roughly 150KB so it might take a minute or two to download.

Pretty neat... however his wings look a bit awkward since the feathers aren't pointed in the right direction. If you have a layered copy you may wish to pull his wings off (oh how vicious!) and try for a pair that has the feathers pointed inward.

Edited for a typo.

Way Kewl-

but I would offer a few touches that might help it-, and they are pretty simple if you have saved it in layers somewhere.

His wings are upside down- took me a minute to spot it, but it's the sort of subtle 'wrong' that throws the whole thing off. Gto that layer, select and create a lew layer via cut to make it two wings if it isn't already, and then [edit>transform>flip vertical] and maybe flip horizontal too- then free transorm them to make then the size/proportion you'd like

Her light and his light are different- I'd select her left side (as you look at the image, not 'her left'), and then go Levels, and knok down the white end of the input levels a bit, to make her look a little more side lighted.

I'd also merge down his wings to his layer, and transform (locked proportion) a tad smaller, and move him up or down in the backround a litte to make him look as though he were a little furthe back from the POV.

If all this is appartant to you,my apologies, and if it was all over your head, feel free to message on the other side for more help.

Now I have that photoshop itch- good way to spend a snowy day<g>.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Hey,
Thanks for the tips. I'm still something of a beginner on Photoshop (having just recently graduated from Paintshop 4) so I'm just kind of feeling my way around it. But I do see what you mean about the lighting and the orientation of the wings. I didn't have any real application in mind for it originally, so I was just basically screwing around.

I'll shamefacedly admit that I haven't worked with levels yet - like I said, I'm a newbie. But I'll take a look at it later, and see what I can do with it. Thanks again for the creative criticism!

One thing I noticed, unless the mistress is using a lash that's curved, some of those marks couldn't have been made.

If she's standing on the right, and whipping the right hand side, then the diagonals on the right side can be made. Same for the left. She could stand on either side and make the marks that are horizontal, and with a LOT of skill (from what I understand) she could make the vertical ones by cutting him with just the tips. But the curved ones couldn't necessarily be made unless she's using a curved lash (I saw a few. Take a piece of cable, put the two ends parrallel to each other, tape them or secure them so tha a handle is formed. Hit the sub with the rounded part, which effectively becomes a paddle-like thing)

YOu may wish to look at that.

Hello wolfy!

How lovely to see you on the boards again. Wanted to thank you for the lovely email. I believe that you will go far in this lifestyle. Now, if only your cute-as-a-button self was closer, lol.

The picture is lovely. Aside from the male's wings being upside down, I see nothing wrong with the piece. I have no experience with any of the programs mentioned so I can't offer any tips. It does speak volumes.

If you don't mind though? I would make some context suggestions as to pose of the male subject. He appears to be standing in complete comfort. I myself would make him appear to be in more pain, as the bloody lashes seem quite severe. If the male was hanging in his chains a bit more, perhaps the head hanging down a tad, it might convey that. Then again, perhaps you're seeking to portray his pride in accepting such rough handling. No matter what.... I still think it rocks.

p.s. - don't be such a stranger

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others....

Another diamond in the rough {winks to wolfy}

Bella

Man I HATE it when I write a long reply to someone and then lose the frakkin' post!

Anyway -

I agree with everything topcat suggested. To the issue of adding directional lighting to the male that is more consistent with the female I'd just add a layer then select filter/render/lighting effects and play with it from there.

My graphic designer's eye has some comments, too:

1. Margins, margins, margins. This is the stuff that can make or break a composition that few people realize to look for but most everyone will look at and have a vague sense of 'something's off' or 'it's unfinished' or it's just 'not clean'. Margins should be uniform all the way around the piece. Don't be afraid of a little white space between those fonts and the edges. Select a distance from the edge of the piece that looks most right to you and make ALL FOUR SIDES of the piece have the same size margins. If you've still got the piece in layers it may just be a simple question of selecting the text layers and moving them a smidge - but that smidge can make all the difference in the world. If you must have different margins then the rule of thumb is to have the top and sides the same margin and the bottom margin increased a bit. This may not work with yours because you have smaller text as the last line.

2. I would say whip's lash instead of whip lash.

3. Put a border around the finished piece. It can be small and unobtrusive but will make it look more 'finished.'

To add a border in photoshop:

Select the color for your border (I generally use black)
Select/ all
Select/ modify/ border - 2 pixels should be enough

Then Shift + Backspace will give you the 'fill' dialog box.
Foreground color
Normal
100%

Play with #3 to get different ideas about borders.

Enjoy! Good composition.

Awesome pic! I have a thing about angels and bondage ;)

Maybe we should create an area for BDSM related Art? I saw one for writing, but nothing on Art.
