In the days before these days the skies were filled with numerous moons, each different. It so happened that one of these moons was wandering about when it happened upon a frail celestial body. As he gazed upon her beauty the moon so desired to have her for his own that he stole her from the skies, keeping her close, and so becoming her first moon. For many days she remained by the moon basking in his soft light. Soon the first moon began noticing other’s and giving his light to them as well. The first moon began to push away from the small heavenly body, thinking her to insignificant now. So it came to pass that while wandering the skies behind the many others, the meek one was snatched away and pocketed by another moon, unnoticed. This moon became the second moon. The light of the second moon was much more intense. He would often hold the little one in a tight, cold grasp and then toss her back into darkness within his pocket. Leaving her there for days on end and pulling her out only to allow other moons to admire her simple beauty. Now it was during one of these gloating, presentations that a moon near by caught a glimpse of the lovely body. His envy grew quick. He followed the second moon where ever he wandered, watching how he displayed his found treasure. Noticing the careless way he shoved her back into his pocket after the applauding observers had praised him on his find. On one such occasion, the second moon being much engrossed in the conversation and patting of backs, that he thrust the timid one back with force and ripped a hole in the bottom seam of his pocket. The celestial body fell right into the waiting hands of the third moon. No moon could have been as careless as the third moon. He would toss the tiny one high in the skies over and over. He would set the body down and forget where. Often he would cast his light down and fall asleep, leaving her exposed and open to prey. The body took these times to grow and become more alluring. It learned the ways the third moon behaved and used them to her advantage. Soon she was leading the third moon to where he had left her. Waking him to remind him to dull his light. Asking him to play other games instead of tossing her about so, and he being so enveloped by her beauty, grew weak. During a day, when the third moon had chosen to whittle away his hours napping, an orb of brilliant light and warmth came to the heavenly beauty. He placed a chain of stars above her and gave her a name. He told her she no longer belonged to the moons and would no longer be of herself. He claimed her as his. The body was again meek and timid by the power in his tone, the strength of his hold, but she was also happy for his warmth. Every day he would warm her fully, right to the very center of her body. He would speak calmly to her and teach her how to grow more radiant. Now there came a time where the body felt quite comfortable with the brilliant orb, and she tried to lead him as she had the third moon, thinking it quite possible to weaken him with her growing loveliness. The orb scorched her surfaces, reminding her that she was merely a small timid being that could easily be returned to be passed among the moons once more. The regretful one wept, forming pools of tears which the orb did not bend to dry up, for he was not weakened by her. She feared he would throw her back to the skies taking her cherished stars away. She grew quiet. The next morning the orb did not mention the previous indiscretions of the one he owned, but took her back into his warming rays and spoke to her of more growth. She quietly listened and was happy to be there below. Their days grew in number and he went about his duties and she went about her given chores, both quite content to be as they were.
