MasterBKM -> slave vs subs (1/22/2007 11:24:18 AM)

a sub  obets and serves by choosing to do so each time, and retains her will ,  a slave intialy makes a choice to serve her Master at all times and then submits to the the will of her master @ ALL times.                a submissive accepts submission while a slave accepts obediance.........
Being a submissive does not always involve:
1) A long-term commitment
2) Devotion to a Master
3) Obedience
4) Focus on the needs and desires of a Master

The difference between a submissive and a slave is not always clear cut and is often the subject of controversy within the lifestyle.  In general, a submissive maintains a certain distance from her Master and retains some freedoms and a slave gives her all as well as her freedoms to her Master.

Hi BKM,

The vanilla ice cream cone just denotes how many posts you have on the forum.  Since you're new to the forums, you get to be vanilla until you have at least 25 posts and then you'll change to "curious" and so on and so forth.

As far as the difference between subs and slaves, that's been debated many, many times over on the appropriate boards.  Just do a search and you'll find endless threads on it where you can read other people's opinions on it.

Anywho,  welcome to collarme!

The cone shows your "ranking", as to number of posts you have made.

Welcome to CM. Am sure you will enjoy your time here, as I have.

BTW:
Your topic should go in the General BDSM Discussion. If you will look at the forums, you will find different areas to post topics related to that topic. You can also search the topics to find threads that already relate to your topic/question.

What's the difference between someone into BDSM as a slave or sub and someone who is just plain kinky?

Personally I hate labels, but I have noticed two different camps of people that put themselves under the category of this "lifestyle". I do not think one is better than the other (just wanted to state this for the record) but I connect with the last camp I'll describe better.

The first camp are the weekenders. These are people that slip into a persona usually online or over the weekend and role play a certain way. They can turn off and on the BDSM part of their life as they desire (to some degree).  These are the kinky people.

The second camp are more in tune with themselves in this role on a constant basis. Maybe it's not 24/7 but they find a majority of the time they fall into a role that is comfortable. They live their lives just like the kinky people (go to work, buy food at the grocery store, talk to the neighbors, etc) their just one step to the left. Something is wired in systems to make them fall into either a submissive or dominate persona. These are group that I would label with the Dominate/sub tags. Who they are is more defined by the BDSM experience.
