May I ask please, what is the purpose of the serial numbering... registration of subs and slaves?

I see this crop of every now and then. I am not gonig to rant on this. I'm genuinely just curious.

Is it a serious thing? Or maybe a cyber fad?

There are some who find the black and white evidence of ownership (registration numbers, contracts, bar codes, brands, tattoos, etc) to be very stimulating and indeed satisfying. A slave registration is just one more way in which a slave can demonstrate, in a real and tangible manner, that she is indeed owned.

Personal preference of course. Nothing more, nothing less. In all of my year's I've met one who had a serial number in real life. Everyone did think it was cool, but people don't tend to go for it much.

True... all boils down to preference, I have met more than a few. Well, seen it in some profiles... and seems for awhile it was something of a fad.

Where would one go to get registered and a serial number? I'm not talking about the tattoo to mark the person permanently, I'm talking about the database of slaves that are owned and so on. IS there such a thing?

My owners registered me as their slave on the Slave Register when they recollared me recently. My number is 399996. (There's something about it on my journal here too.) The purpose of course is to make my enslavement more public and "official." And if i were to be sold, my number would remain the same on the Register and only the particulars of my ownership would be changed (as well as changing my entire life too, of course). i have since learned there's a similar German slave registry called sklavenzentrale, and there may be others.

The real reason is the incredibly powerful psychological effect on the slave (and her master's pleasure) of registering her (or him) as material property and giving her a number, exactly as if she were a car or a horse or a pedigreed puppy. My owners think it's quite amusing that i was so totally blown away (and still am) by being registered, even though i'm quite aware in my head that it's purely symbolic. But in my belly the effect was indescribable. As my master Michelangelo puts it, registering me as a slave carries about the same legal weight as "carving our initials on a tree," and he's very pleased that i find it so overpowering. Well, to me it was as if my owners had carved their initials right on my soul!

My slave number also looks mysterious and lovely engraved on the medallion hanging proudly from my cunt ring, and they're planning on having it tattooed on me somewhere; don't know where it'll be yet, but my preference would be somewhere i can't easily hide it, so my enslavement will become that much more public and obviously permanent.

The "Other World Kingdom" (OWK) also maintains the "IRS" International Slave Registry, through their website, which states:

"The IRS not only maintains evidence of the actual condition of slaves owned by Ladies, but also of sales, trades, transfers, gifts, rentals or the creation of a lien on each and every slave."

I am #756188. I would have to agree that it is an emotionally powerful thing. We too have been searching for a small medallion for the same purpose. I have a friend who is also registered and tattooed. Sir and I had talked about that but after seeing hers He said that the first thing He thought of when he saw it was Auschwitz so He chooses not to take it that extra step.

It's an objectification thing first and foremost, you get identified as an object with a serial number.

It's a status symbol, that you went to the trouble to GET that done.

And some take it seriously if they are cyber only as a way to prove some level of seriousness.

It's not a fad, but I don't think it will ever be overhwelmingly popular.

This has proven to be most interesting, thank you all...again... for your comments and posts. I hadn't thought about the aspects of the registering to the slave. It's incredible. Although I could imagine what the reaction could be from both sides..... it's still beautiful to see it put in words. The impressions I had of the registration, have changed. Mind you, I never looked down on those that were registered...... I just have a new understanding, and apreciation for it.

erin, i felt exactly the same way. i have Jewish ancestors and follow the Jewish religion as much as i can, though technically i am not considered to be Jewish. i could not bring myself to have a serial number tattooed on my body without much serious thought before hand, for the same reason as your master. i'm not against tattoos, i have 2 already and have talked with Master about getting another that He has designed, but a number is where i have to draw the line i think.

Now, having it engraved on a disk a-la-O style...oooh, i like that very much.

it's a symble of your slave/sub it can be anything my self at bdsm event's i jsut have a callor on no dog tag cause i'am not owned but that is how i show it and everone is diffrent some day i may due more but not 2 day

When i see someone with a collar on i assume he/she is owned or at least in training with a specific dominant. Maybe some see a collar simply as a sign that you are submissive, i'm not sure. Has this been discussed in the numerous threads on collars? I don't remember that specifically.

LOL I'm sure it has but that doesn't mean we can't start a new one. Collars are symbols, so they can mean anything you want them to mean. Sometimes owned slaves don't wear them (I only wear mine when I am actually with the Owner), sometimes they have other symbols and sometimes even a dominant will wear a collar or something that looks like it.

It's best just not to assume, treat them like any other normal person until you ask or know otherwise.

I have seen subs at events such as Fetish/BDSM Nights at local clubs "advertise" their availability by wearing a collar, but having an open lock dangling from it... It shows on one level that they are submissive, but that they are not "taken" yet.

There are various "levels" of collars according to some in the BDSM community, but I also let my new subs-in-training wear one when doing housework and other service around My household, even if not formally collared. It is explained to them that this is not a formal ownership collar, but simply a physical and psychological reminder of their submissiveness to Me. It helps to reinforce their transition to the "sub mentality" from the everyday vanilla world, especially if they are fairly new to the scene. It has worked very well for My submissives so far and they all love it!
