Does anybody have any experience with using balaclavas (aka ski masks) -- the full head covering preferred by kidnappers and terrorists the world over -- as a bondage hood?

It seems to me like they could be a good low-cost option for hoods, while also having a raw, 'abducted' feel to them.

I thought you could buy them whole (no holes) and cut the holes yourself, but my problem is that all the ones I can find already have eye holes pre-cut! Obviously, as a hood, there should be no eye holes, and having the mouth hole torn/cut, rather than pre-sewn, keeps with the rougher look that I'm going for.

So a few questions for anybody who has dealt with this:

Where can you find intact balaclavas, without holes?
How breathable are they; is a mouth hole necessary?
Once cut, do they fray and unravel quickly? Should I consider them to be temporary, and thus keep them in good supply? :-)

Thanks...

Look for extra large/long knit ski caps.
Best of luck.

Pretty much any low density fabric will work for a hood. Are you set on a balaclava? If not then something like a potato sack is very low-cost and "raw"

Some memories come out of the blue...

Once, after skiing, we did use a "bally".  Since it was thin (more of a helmet liner) we just reversed it.  No breathing problems, not unlike a stocking mask, according to my partner.

... and by the way... what about stockings as masks?

What about a toboggan (that is what we call them here don’t know what everyone else calls them) they are just like ski masks they just don’t have hold. If you can find the ones that are a little longer but I think they would unravel according on what they are made of and the way in which they were made.

I use a black silk pillow case, then put a neck collar over it to keep it on.

Its thin enough to breath through, thick enough to block room light. and light enough not to have neck issues.
You can caress the face through it for sensualism and pull it tight over the face to read the wearers expression.
A small, fresh squirt of your cologne on it beforehand is enough to remind her to the session everytime you hug her close afterwards.

Plus as a bonus you cause it as a carry bag of the kind of things at make a subbies bells jingle when you tip them out before using it as headware.

You could just sew the eyes up or put a velco patch over the eyes.
