If you are truly a lady you would never have to say you were one.  That is as simple as it gets.  I can understand their point.

just wondering why  the following subjective terms are okay to be used  and yet Lady causes such a major concern... ..silly little me...kind/compassionate/sassy/kindness/integrity

I guess based soley upon these definitions  i have been one even as a young girl (b)...and then again without doubt since i bought my home in 1995 (2)
defination of a lady as per the American Heritage dictionary.
  1. A well-mannered and considerate woman with high standards of proper behavior.   a. A woman regarded as proper and virtuous. b. A well-behaved young girl.
  2. A woman who is the head of a household.
  3. A woman, especially when spoken of or to in a polite way. a. A woman to whom a man is romantically attached. b. Informal A wife.
  4. Lady Chiefly British A general feminine title of nobility and other rank, specifically: a. Used as the title for the wife or widow of a knight or baronet. b. Used as a form of address for a marchioness, countess, viscountess, baroness, or baronetess. c. Used as a form of address for the wife or widow of a baron. d. Used as a courtesy title for the daughter of a duke, a marquis, or an earl. e. Used as a courtesy title for the wife of a younger son of a duke or marquis.
  5. Lady The Virgin Mary. Usually used with Our.
  6. Slang Cocaine.

You obviously missed the whole point of what everyone was saying.  Was there any point in addressing such a "lady" to begin with?

the point that some people were making were not addressing the question i had. the point i was wishing to make was and still is......why is it okay for someone to call them selves a gentleman   but not a lady....

I see the term lady as an adjective similar to short, fat, kind,  compassionate, knowledgable....etc.

as i used the term butch as an example ...if i said i was butch...then it would be understood...a lady is a similar descriptive term,  men who refer to themselves as gentlemen to me have distictive behavior patterns to me at least...I doubt that i am in the minority there...but that is just my opinion.....by the way  your own profile uses a few of the descriptive terms that i listed above.

That is just ridiculous.  Because of who, Margaret Thatcher?  How many other terms does that logic apply to?

Absolutely, I do not think myself better than anyone else in this world on an intrinsic level, I guess it goes with my anthropology degree, you see, you are not the only one with an education.

I dont think theres a single thing wrong with refering to yourself as a lady in your profile.  If the word lady aligns with your own personal definition of what a lady is and you believe yourself to fit that description, its no different than refering to yourself as a woman.   I usally say girl or woman, when refering to myself.

If you do not indentify with terms like whore and slut, I think thats good to put in your profile, this way you wont attract men who like sluts.

I dont see anything wrong with any of it.  Even your implication that being  a whore is beneath you.  I mean, its your profile, if thats how you feel about your personal definition of whore, who could blame you for showing your genuine feelings on your own personal corner of the web.  No one is forced to read it.  And I would imagine that the people who share your feelings will flock to you while others who dont,  simply wont.  Dont give a second thought to the unsolicited emails.  Those are from men who like your pic but are pissed off because they cant call you a slut.

Wow, this turned into a catfight in a hurry!  Like the OP, I do not care to be addressed as a slut, whore, bitch, etc.  I don't feel that my sexual preference has made me any less of a woman OR a lady.  Granted, I probably wouldn't fit the strict definition of a lady while dressed in leather and swinging a flogger, but as one of the posters has already pointed out, you can fall into more than one category.  That being said, I would NEVER appreciate someone calling me a slut or whore at any time.  If you don't mind it, that's fine, but please don't lump me into that category just because I share this site with you.

Ladies... and gentleman (Obey1).....Thank you I guess my thinking isn't totally off base...I still havent gotten the answer but i alos suppose there really isnt an answer after all....Only a lady or a gentleman would understand what a lady is. 

We are a different breed  not a better breed  just a different one.  and I suppose asking a cockerspaniel to understand a golden retriever's view is just like trying to teach a pig to sing..

you waste your time and you annoy the pig!

thank you all for your personal notes...and Lady Ellen...I actually own property so i guess technically speaking by the truest sense of the word i have been a lady since 1995....although it would be nice to have the official title!
