The very best way to get started is to go to a local BDSM munch and meet people. Don't learn off of what others write...it is your life and choices ...books are quite helpful and mentors.

Re Castlerealm, the site was created by a couple who met on irc and were together for several years in an online only relationship (she was married). They never actually meeting irl until just before her death. That being said...whatever venue you choose, use common sense and take what you can use and lose the rest.

The best advice I can give is do the hard work by getting to know yourself.
