I agree with you, when the scroll thing gets down to about 1in I move on to the next post. I don't want to sit there reading everything, takes too long.

Another question  for the Mistresses {I don't like having my questions moved} [:D]
I am online a lot, I have DSL and often will just keep the computer on when I am home.
Also, I do a lot of work online and take frequent breaks. [:D]
My point is this, I enjoy reading the forums and often posting my opinions.
I noticed a long time ago that many people must spend a long time writing out these
elaborate questions and many write elaborate answers.
Ladies, I need to admit, often I am too lazy to read posts that look like they are a page long,
and I rarely read answers that are a page long.
I often feel like I am reading a damn book.
Ladies? anyone else out there like me?
Too lazy to read those damn long posts and sure as hell to lazy to write one?

fess up

ROFLMAO  MizMia, I loved this post!
Although, I do appreciate the well thought out post of those that have much more experience than I do and I learn much here.  I tend not to write dissertations on subjects where I am not well versed or if someone else already covered my opinion.

GuidingLite -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (1/29/2007 5:38:27 PM)

I never read those essays either. The  long posts are usually confusing anyway.  Coz its just babble babble babble and its repetitive and rarely makes sense.  Some even try to come off all intelligent but actaully make their posts uniteresting becoz they dont say it quickly and its to wordy.  they actually think its better to be wordy and intelligent and long but its not.  people like things consise and clear and to the point.   if you cant make your post to the point then forget about it all together.

MzMia -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (1/29/2007 6:32:27 PM)

Thank you all, I knew I was not the only one that felt that way.
I don't come here to read a book!
LOL[:D]

Highheelfetish20 -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (1/29/2007 8:17:18 PM)

Take heed.  The long posters are going to come in and rant how their long post are intelligent and informative.  I kid. I kid.

In all seriousness I don't read long posts either and when I write I've learned to get your point across fast and furious so you can keep the readers attention.  Too wordy isn't good.  If you can say it simply, say it simply.  Too many make the mistake of trying to make their writing as technical and intelligent sounding as possible.  People like easy reading.  Post which are too long or too wordy or too technical (intelligent) don't capture, they deter (as you can gather from the responses).

This is not to say those that like it short and sweet are incapable of  reading technical writings.   It's unnecessary in a relaxed environment like here.  (Is this to long?) ^??^

littlesarbonn -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (1/29/2007 8:32:37 PM)

It just seems bizarre that the majority, if not all, of the posters in this thread indicate that detailed information is not desired, but instead would rather have short posts that don't get into any real detail.

Oh well, good luck to you all. Posting one and two liners might be a style, but it's not really mine. And from the tone of this thread, people like me won't be missed.

Lorelei115 -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (1/29/2007 8:53:36 PM)

I find the double standard interesting, actually... When posters write a lot, people are like "boring!" but when they only write one or two lines people either a) say "We can't answer this, not enough background" or b) make up background from the percieved tone of the poster. If the topic interests me, yes I will read through pages of text. If it does not, I ignore it and go on my merry way. Then again, I may not exactly be trained in speed reading, but I can read rather quickly and I type at 55 wpm. Maybe that affects my viewpoint?

MzMia -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (1/29/2007 9:05:16 PM)

The point of this topic IS, some of us do not read long posts, period.
Thats it, I might write a long post sometimes and I know that there are a fair number
of people that will not read it.
No need to get upset or huffy.
We are free to read what we want to read and extract what we need.
Some of us do have short attention spans, especially since this is supposed to be "fun", and we
do not want to read a dissertation on somone else's thoughts.[:D]
So we read......what we want to read.

cloudboy -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (2/6/2007 1:26:46 PM)

Getting one's point across with as few words as possible is a real art form, but a long post can be a good one if the author uses Occam's Razor, has good paragraph sense, and writes well.

*looks thoughtful*

I don't know.  I'd infinitely rather read a post that is intelligent, thoughtful and well-written than something that's rambly, badly paragraphed, with substandard orthography and typographical errors.

What I do NOT read, routinely, are posts that are confusing, rambling and/or written in an awkward third-person style (well done third person isn't nearly as annoying).

Everyone's different; that's the charm of message boards.

Exactly, and the very few long posts I bother to skim, often repeat and rephrase the same mantra over and over.
Or tend to be some lengthly sort of biography, I often wonder what kind of time some people have on their hands.

topkat757 -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (2/6/2007 8:00:24 PM)

Haven't we beat this dead horse long enough ????

cloudboy -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (2/6/2007 8:06:22 PM)

Actually, my posts usually have errors in them, and I had to call my Mistress to ask her how to spell Occam's razor because I couldn't figure it out on my own. Writing is a most humbling exercise for me.

I like your posts though, and the Madonna-Whore thread you started was one of the very first threads I ever sank my teeth into.

MzMia -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (2/6/2007 8:23:13 PM)

Oh no, no I can beat the dead horse a long time! If ya don't like the thread, here is a thought?
Don't read it

canupleaseme -> RE: I admit, I am a lazy forum poster! (2/6/2007 11:56:21 PM)

I must admit sometimes i will see a post that interests me and i will skim read it and when the replies are really long winded (yet always informative) it puts me off replying as I find i tend to then ramble to make mine look equally as long and thought out lol!!!
I think when the topic is something that requires a lot of background and infomation then they are helpful and good ro read, bu when its just a rant or something that requires simplicity then i am easily bored and just pass it over.
Id say mine are either short and sweet or long if they need to be but not round the houses with too much babble, though rereading this one i could be wrong [sm=biggrin.gif]
