Where do all of you buy your toy chest to keep your toys in? I'm looking for a decent one that can also act as a blanket chest for when my vanilla friends come over.
  Thank you

i'm looking for one that locks as well.  :)

Uhm, why not buy a blanket chest.  None of the people who make S&M furniture that I have seen could even manage to build a frame and panel box, let alone a blanket chest with a lid.

Sonny Black being the only exception and his would be $2,500 bucks.

I was thinking  about going to like a home store where they would sell blanket chests.

I just have the box, that slids under the bed.

So, if I understand this correctly, you want a toychest that will double as a blanket chest for vanilla friends...so when they pull out a blanket, are they going to find Y/your toys underneath?

Depending on how many toys O/one has, old steamer trunks work, locking wardrobes work, wicker chests, pretty much anything that can be closed and locked.

Cordially,

I've got a "chuck box." Ideally it'll work fine because its front opens up like a table to hold toys that're ready for use. Unfortunately, the people I'm living with aren't very kink-aware, so its being used as a table- toys and all.

Correct, but when they pull a blanket off there will be several blankets underneath. My toys fill up a medium 32" duffel bag

I have the same sort of issues, and I have an extensive toy collection.  I actually found an inexpensive chest of drawers and use that.  It was like $50.  I stripped off the nasty paint, stained it a mahogany color, and it matches my bedroom furniture.  It doesn't lock, but my company doesn't typically rummage through my drawers.

When my son went off to college, he left behind some furniture that was stained or painted black.  (He likes the oriental look)   I took the dresser and put it out in my dungeon.  I've had that area set up for better than a year now and even when things are broken down and put away for a visit, no one bothers to see what's in the dresser.   Keeps things super organized as well.  One drawer for cuffs and collars, one for canes, crops, etc.  You get the idea.

One could always go to a rough wood store and buy a unfinished chest .. then add what they wanted to it ... locks... hasps or even a false bottom

If you catch them, that's when you get to use the harshest toys...

If they're vanilla, they don't deserve to be in your bedroom anyway [;)]

Probably the coolest toychest I ever saw doubled as a throne.
It was made from the head and footboards of an old rope bed, With the chest built under the seating area.
The seat had a recessed loop pull and it was made to have a pillow top on the seat, and a fabric skirt hiding the fact that it had a chest under it at all.

I intend to copy the idea for myself later.

my fantasy chest would be a beautiful carved armoire. Solid Oak for the lightness of the wood with antique brass enhancements & locks, ooo and a silky red tassel for the key....(And this from a s/sl that had to climb out of bed to look up the proper spelling of armoire.)

For modern day- i would probably select a more modern computer armoire or entertainment center that has the best of both worlds?(Places like shopko have the pre-made inexpensive do ityourself and save kits.) One side could lock and the other remain unlocked?  If it was a great design idea or just what Y/you wanted a better version could be later built using the cheaper shopko piece as a pattern tocut the wood and such.

The height would give a speacial place for the whips, floggers, paddles and slappers on the backside of the door? Of course this is my humble opinion....

A "hope" chest against a wall with a bookcase just above it enough to allow the chest to open?  The bookcase could easily have doors added (or at  places like Dom Depot there are pre made items that could work.) It could almost have the appearance of the enrtyway tree/bench.

An antique steamer trunk with 2 seperate compartments? In a small area it could triple off as a end table? Roll Top desk, common furniture of many styles all have potential.....

I went looking and now I'm in love. They have one with a padded top that would be a very comfortable spanking bench. Thanks for the suggestion.

True, but when it's people who haven't seen my place yet and want a tour......

BootBlackBlast -> RE: Toy Chest? (2/8/2007 1:41:48 PM)

my mum has always had a bedar lane chest at the foot of her bed. to me her bed would appear naked without it. hers held until baby blankets and outfits until they decided recently to sell our childhood home and move to florida. what she'll put in it now who knows but probably just extra bedding. growing up a friend had one that got something added to it every birthday and christmas. one year sheets, and bedding, one year nice cutco knives, one year flatware, china, etc. so that when she was old enough to move out and have her own place she already had a lot of really nice household things. I kept thinking about how a very small slave boy could fit inside if he squished in. They do lock shut after all... and they hold a lot of things. You could even install a false bottom or dividers to keep things separate. I wouldn't however leave my leathers in their as it might do them so harm if they don't breathe enough. Oh and for me the leather smell is part of what makes me happy.

ArgoGeorgia -> RE: Toy Chest? (2/14/2007 7:55:10 PM)

Wow, I'm so much more utilitarian than most folks!  I have a huge rolling tool box with big ol' padlocks on it.  It has 'tool' organizers and lots of space.  And it stays out of the way in the workshop until it is needed.  However, if I had a dedicated dungeon something like the armoire or dresser discussed above would be so ideal.  Hell, just give me a display wall and I'll be happy. lol
