SusanofO -> Needle Play - What does this involve? Just curious. (1/28/2007 11:38:06 AM)

I have to be gone this afternoon, so unfortunately will not be here to answer any kind replies to this question until later - but thank you for any replies in advance, in this case, then.

I am (relatively) curious what Needle play involves. I am not particularly scared of needles, but - it all depends, you know?

**Just wondering if there are any general scenarios people tend to engage in when they do "Needle play"(if you've read or heard much. I have not).

Or - if anyone wants to toss out just what they, in particular, do with needles (whether that would be considered "general experience with needles" or not), that is as much appreciated.

Thanks for any replies.

- Susan

Generally it involves putting hub needles (hollow hypodermic) through the skin layers. All 3 layers of skin can be involved with each layer giving a different level of sensation. They can be placed in decorative patterns or usefull ones. Decorative for visual effect and usefull can be for such things as needle corsets, or thread bondage, (tie needles to a frame with thread and the skin/ pain can be used to limit movement).
Needles used for temp piercing vary in size from small needles (28 ga or even smaller) to rather large ones (typicly 16ga is the largest temp piercing needle I have seen used)

Most folks I have seen get a very fast endorphine rush faster trip to subspace than impact play.
There are numerous needle tricks that people use as well one of my personal favorites it to build an "Endorphine Button" by crossing needles under ech other until you have 8 or more of them in a circle where they all cross at the center. You can then push the button and give very intense sensation with minimal effort.

That should be a basic overview, hope it helps.

It's wide.  For me it focuses on piercing for aesthetics, doing designs upon the body with needles of various sorts and with piercing jewelry.  I'm a piercer and artist, so I go in for the use of a body as canvas.

But, needles can be used in many ways...  while I don't run this way, scrotum pincushioning is an example of another route; using needles to cause pain, anchors for tension, to cause bleeding, to pin a person to an object or location, etc.

Susan, and thread.  Here are the descriptions of two needle play scenes in which I've taken part.  I picked these to show the breadth of the area.  Like anything in D/s there is no one true way, nor is it fair to say every needle scene involves the same elements...except of course, needles *GRIN*  ENJOY.

Scene One:  A house servant/slave at a 24-7 B/D/S/M bed and breakfast decided she wanted a pair of wings.  Her mistress (and about 6 guests of the House) were glad to oblige.  We took 18 ga. 2" IV catheters (that means an 18 gauge needle 2" long in a plastic cannula.  They look like the pink ones here)  and inserted them in her back, needle in and point out, so they pierced the skin and came back up.  The cannulae form a small "vase" and into each one, we hot glued a feather...lovely native american bird feathers from the Mistress' collection.  The color pallette was browns and golds and reds, and we inserted about 70 catheters, close enough to eachother for the feathers to overlap like a bird's wing.  When it was done, she had a pair of feathered wings sprouting from the middle of her upper back, across her shoulders, and out.  It was glorious!  I wish I had pictures.  This scene took 7-8 people working on the girl, and at least 4 hours (I have no recollection of the passage of time, and I was just a helper bee!)  The endorphin rush in the room was wonderful.   She wore the wings for about 3 hours...played with Mistress and others a bit in the dungeon, and we then stripped out the needles, cleaned her up and protected her skin, preserved the feathers, and the winged girl slept for about 15 hours.

Scene Two:  At a small private gathering in Las Vegas, another Dominant had a nice collection of natural porcupine quills, which he graciously shared with Me.  While we sat around the pool at an outdoor fire, chatting and eating and drinking, our respective pets knelt at our sides, attended to our drinks, etc.  Every 10 minutes or so, as it seemed appropriate, I took a quill and placed it in my girl, in the fleshy area just at the base of her breasts, at her breastbone.  My friend did the same, although as his pet was much more experienced with needles, and the resulting rushes, he placed 2-3 quills in her breasts, chest and as the evening progressed, her upper inner thighs.  These "scenes" took about 4 hours, too, coincidentally.  They were both intense and intensely private.  My girl was rolling on a variety of endorphins and emotions, occasioned by the service, the scene and the pain.  after several hours, we repaired to a bedroom and carefully removed the quills with a sterilized pliers, played and cuddled, and went back to our hotel.

My very first ever play was with needles. It was the first time Master and I had ever met and we had discussed in advance what he was going to do. I spent a week thinking about what it would be like and nearly backed out a few times over that time. When it did happen it was quite amazing. Master put 6 needles through each nipple and then spent time playing with them. Touching them sent all sorts of feelings through my nipples. He then went on and pushed things a bit further and placed some into the labia. Not as painful as I expected but that could have been because I was still on a high from the needles in the nipples.

He has also used saline solution to inject both nipples and labia which is perhaps a slightly different sort of needle play.

Okay, I guess I am going to have to get into needle play, that just sounds FUN!

MsOpal -> RE: Needle Play - What does this involve? Just curious. (1/28/2007 1:00:05 PM)

I wish we could attach pictures to messages here ...  I have had my cheeks (face) pierced twice ... this is based on real aboriginal facial piercings done before going into battle to get their endorphine going.   This is done with a 6 inch long needle, I use 16 - 18 gague. This should really be done by someon who does know what they're doing and there is a nerve running down your cheeks and if it is poked it can result in ticks or permanent nerve damage in your face.  Basically you poke the needle in one cheek through the mouth adn out the other cheek.  For me it does not do the endorphine rush that makes me want to fight, but makes me calm and quiet and introspective.  Both times have been moving and spiritual experiences for me, and I look forward to doing it again.

Other needle play for me is a variety of needles mostly in my breasts from 22 down to 16's.  The endorphin rush is instant and high.  It can be made to last all evening.  As a kid I used to use straight pins on the palms of my hands amd finger tips and soles of my feet and walked on them!  I had no idea what I was doing, I just knew I liked how it felt.  I have seen some amazing scenes with elaborate designs done in colored string or feathers.  This is not for everyone, but if you are a pain or endorphine junkie ...

GrizzlyBear -> RE: Needle Play - What does this involve? Just curious. (1/28/2007 1:10:43 PM)

Needle play is one segment of a type of play called play piercing.  Play piercing differs from body mod piercing in that the hole made in the skin is intended to heal quickly so no permanent jewelry is left inserted.  The needles used are also generally smaller diameter than the ones used for inserting jewelry.  14 and 12 Gauge are very common sizes for body jewelry; 16 is about the largest needle commonly used for needle play, and most are smaller yet.

Needle gauges are a measurement of needles per inch; a 10 gauge needle is 10 needles per inch, or 1/10" (0.1") diameter.  A 20 gauge needle is 20 needles per inch, or .05" diameter

Most needle play is done with disposable sterile hypodermic needles.  Typically these are 25-16 gauge, up to 1-1/2" or 2" long, and are inserted just under the skin, in and out a time or two.  Often small needles are inserted straight in, in areas where there is sufficient padding.  These needles as sold for medical uses are packaged in double sealed sterile wrappings with a protective sheath, and should be removed from their packaging immediately before use.  They should be used once and discarded in an approved manner.

Needle play can be very decorative, especially if ribbons or thread are tied or laced through the pattern that is formed, or feathers or other decorations can be inserted into the hub end of the needles.  Most often this sort of play is done on the back, the belly, the chest or breasts, the upper arms, and the thighs, areas with ample padding and loose skin where the marks will be covered by clothing.  Some enjoy needles in more sensitive areas - nipples, labia, lips, tongue, cock, scrotum.

Anyone with a masochistic streak that is not afraid of needles should consider trying it.  There are many needle sluts out there, who find it the fastest way to sub space.  It is also one of the more common phobias.  If you panic or faint at the doctor's when you have to get a shot or have blood drawn, then needle play may not be for you.

When I do needle scenes at play parties, I find that many leave the room.  However there are nearly always a few that line up to try a needle or two.

There are more extreme forms of needle play, using very large needles.  I have seen needles used in videos as large as 12 gauge and 9" long, inserted through both cheeks, or through the breasts.

There are also other forms of play piercing.  These include suturing, hook and pull (done with large barbless fishhooks), and skewering.  Any items used to pierce or insert into a wound should be sterilized.  If not purchased in sterile medical packaging, they must be freshly autoclaved.

Hope this helps

dman damn damn!  I had no interest in that and knew someone who did a lot of it who had offered to teach me but I had never seen anything creative done with it and didn't see the potential.

Oh well, but thanks for the photos, those are SO cool!

LOL

It is so much fun watching a sadist get almost giddy over the prospect of a new toy.

This is the point where alandra and I would look at each other and say "vroom, vroom" and giggle.  Our Lord would then look at us and mutter "fuckin bitches" and it only enhances that twinkle in his eye and smirk on his face.  Of course, someone is going to be in pain soon, but that is all good.

It is so much fun!!!

Lmao, it is! I have experienced the button type Archer described (with only two crossed needles) and you hit subspace in about 3.9 seconds.

The idea of needle play is a real turn off for me,as im very scared of needles, but if you want to experiment or are curious, about needleplay i would advise you to be careful, and if your playing with someonelse asking them what experience they have had of needle play i think would be a very good idea on your behalf.

I've been interested in learning needle play for a long time.  My girl is one of those who almost faints at a docs office getting a shot.  Recently she witnessed a very powerful needle play scene and admitted to Me that she was ready to give it a try.  Luckily, I have several friends in the lifestyle who are very experienced and are willing to teach Me the ins and outs.  I am very much looking forward to it.

Missokyst -> RE: Needle Play - What does this involve? Just curious. (1/28/2007 9:07:00 PM)

I am not afraid of needles and they don't particularly hurt me.  Usually that would mean I could be bored with it, but, as decorations, they can be fun.  And add a little violet wand play, or some tens.. :) and its downight perky!
