i heard from some futurists that believe that intersex persons and people on the trail thereof will become more common in excepted cultures than straight monogendered persons. does anyone have any thoughts on this?

What do they mean when they say "intersexed"? As far as i am aware, intersexed is the new (and correct) name for an hermaphradite. i doubt very much whether there will be 'more' intersexed people born than there ever has been, just that parents will not be forced to choose which sex the child should grow up in.

i think the whole concept is wonderful. If there are more people in general society - and more accepted by society - that identify as intersex, or at least less structured in their sexuality, then the pressure to conform to a strict polar-opposite sexual relationship will start to lessen. When people no longer can tell which gender someone is, then the hang up about whether they are male or female will go, and the more important aspect of 'are they a decent person to know' will be paramount. Of course, i am bisexual and have never been too caught up with stereotypes, to me the packaging is artifical anyway.

transgendered people have been around since people have been around.
So it really doesn't fit here in your question since they are the past, present and future.

Just because it isn't common knowledge does not mean it does not exist.

I was doing a bit of research, and it actually looks like there hasn't even been a significant increace in the birth of transgendered, transexual and interesexed people. The names have changed, but the numbers seem to be pretty constant.

This is good to hear. I have seen an occasional news story about how there have been an increase in the number of intersexed fish and frogs due to the chemicals that we are releasing into the water. It is good to know that this isn't reaching species which live outside of the water.

Intersexuality as a physcial condition, I have heard, can be a difficult burden to carry.

But I think the OP means 'intersexuality' to be a cultural category or status. If so I agree - we need to loosen up our attitudes about gender.

I have dated T.S's and must say,
that the way the World is going not America alone, but the way every Country is going.
Before long it will be mainstream!

But as Presidents go, they read the bible
and say that gay Marriages and such,
are an abomination!

Someday that will change~

Intersex is the proper term for "hermaphrodite". It's a physical condition, with many variants of it. Some medical statistics think 1 in 10,000 births are intersexed in some way. Others point to about 1 in 30,000. Since intersex conditions have such a technical high range, the numbers can be taken either way.
