I'm not usually prone to comments like this, but I have this overwhelming urge to vent publicly about private issues that nobody else is responsible for except me.

Damn...it's been a bad week.

That's all I gotta say.

Stephan

They'll come along in due course, I'm sure marie...  the most immediate being Constantine.  gretchen and I had two cats, a black bombay, and a yellow striped tiger.  When she moved, Constantine escaped, and is lost in the city - not knowing her new place, not knowing how to get back to mine.

:(

edited to add...I have a wonderful little cat named Zeke.
She's seventeen years old.
She pees on everything.  I can send her to you, if you like.

Oh man.  Hopefully someone will return her.  Did she have tags on?
I used to have a cat for 17 years.  He died just over a year ago.  He was mostly an indoor cat, but he liked to roam outside alot.  At bedtime, I would always make sure he came in.  Occasionally when I couldnt find him by calling him,  I would stand at the back door and shake his box of food.  He always came running at that sound.  But Im not in a city type area;  its residential.
I guess it sounds nuts, and like a really remote shot, but maybe you could walk around the area and try to use whatever sound she used to respond to (shaking one of her toys, or just the box of food) and it might pull her out of the woodwork.
I hope she finds her way home soon.

marie,

it's already been two days.  Picture a cat dropped in downtown Dallas.  Picture Dallas without an animal control service.  That's what it's like.

New day, we'll see how things work out.

...if it helps any...this girl had a kitty once that went missing pretty much the same way...was gone for two weeks...we thought she was gone forever when one day she was sitting at the front door like she had never left...wondering what the big deal was...

...found out later that kitties don't get lost...they can track their own scent right back to where they got lost from...and that...sometimes...they just like to go on an adventure...this one hopes that is the case with gretchen...
