I appologize if this may have been discussed in the past, but, I was wondering if anyone has a "theme" song(s)... music and lyrics they identify with that may explain or comfort them for the way they feel about life, love, politics, anything at all really?

I was sitting here listening to some music as I work and a song came on that I think of as my theme song as how I feel about being my Owners pet and submissive... and thought about how I have several songs I actually identify with in some way or another. Would anyone care to share?  Or does this sound rather jouvenille? Well, I still love music like I did as a teenager

Me first: One theme song for how I feel in my choice with my Master is "Only when I loose myself" by Depeche Mode (particularly like the re-mix for it's fun beat... ha ha ha)... and another song I love for my view on politics is "Minority" by Green Day (as in I want to be my own person/different than the masses, or at least in my own mind).

I have several others, I'm sure, but these are the two I thought of right now.

"She's Always a Woman " - Billy Joel

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/billy+joel/shes+always+a+woman_10034868.html

She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
But she can't be convicted
She's earned her decree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me

i also have several:  "I Hope You Dance" by Sara Evans always reminds me of my own personal philosophy of life--"when you get the choice to sit it out or dance/i hope you dance";  Van Morrison sings one about Jesus that just always puts a smile in my heart, but i can't remember the title this morning *more coffee, please* there are more that give me an emotional response of some kind, but these 2 in particular i think of as my "theme songs"...thanks for the fun thread

ooh... lyrics... why didn't I think of that?

Well, upon closer inspection of the lyrics, the two songs seem a bit contradictory perhaps, but, the first one is how I feel when I'm with my Master and about my journey in life with Him, and the second is how I feel about life/politics/my place in the world, so on and so forth...

Only When I Loose Myself:
http://archives.depechemode.com/lyrics/onlywhenilosemyself.html
It's only when I lose myself  in someone else
That I find myself, I find myself

Something beautiful is happening inside for me
Something sensual, it's full of fire and mystery
I feel hypnotised
I feel paralysed
I have found heaven

Minority:
http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/greenday/minority.html
I want to be the minority,
I don't need your authority.
Down with the moral majority,
'Cause I want to be the minority.

I pledge allegiance to the underworld.
One nation under dog,
There of which I stand alone.
A face in the crowd,
Unsung, against the mold.
Without a doubt,
Singled out.
The only way I know.

I'm glad you like the thread... I thought it was fun. I'm aslo glad that I'm not the only one that has several theme songs/music with which I identify in life!

This song kinda popped into my head. I doubt any of you have heard is as it's from about 10 years ago and sung by a christian rock band (see, I told you I have christian roots!) Sometimes, I get defensive about who and what I am.

Newsboys - Cup O'tea Lyrics KICK START - his overdue life as a star
waiting tables
hadn't done that so far
SPOTLIGHT - a dream for many a
year
the leather jacket, Jimmy's ever ready stage
wear

sorry I'm not your cup o'tea
but I
don't mind
Yeah, I said I don't mind
at least
I know you're thinking about me
yeah, I don't
mind
yeah, I said I don't mind

"GOOD STUFF,
PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY HEAR!"
Mumbled something
'bout "PEARLS IN A PIG'S EAR"
"OLD SCHOOL" thirty
two and knowing it all
who wants to listen to a single-sided
phone call?

sorry I'm not your cup
o'tea
but I don't mind
yeah, I said I
don't mind
at least I know you're thinking about
me
yeah, I don't mind
yeah, I said I don't
mind

bring it all into perspective
the tongue will
steer the ship ahoy
spark up a flame
feel the pain of
habanero sauce
a word's forever
when we speak we
set 'em free
so watch your mouth
and you be careful
what you say, Jimmy

sorry I'm not your cup
o'tea
but I don't mind
yeah, I said I
don't mind
at least I know you're thinking about
me
yeah, I don't mind
ahh, maybe I do mindMaster Fire

(Whispers to lilsubl, "I Hope You Dance" was by Leeann Womack!)

Anyway, my theme song is "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.

Meredith Brooks -- Bitch

... You look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
Must have been relieved to see
The softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

So take me as I am
This may mean
You'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that
When I start to make you nervous
And I'm going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing

Just when you think, you got me figured out
The season's already changing
I think it's cool, you do what you do
And don't try to save me

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb, I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way

Supertramp -- Asylum

Jimmy Cream was keen,

His brain was always winnin',

I cant keep tabs on mine-its really quite a joke.

I see him down the road,

I ask if he'd be willing

to lend me 15p-I'm dieing for a smoke.

DOn't arrange to have me sent to no asylum,

I'm just as sane as anyone,

It's just a game I play for fun-for fun.

I told em-look!-I said I'm not the way your thinkin'.

Just when I'm down I'll be the clown, I'll play the fool.

Please DOn't arrange to have me sent to no asylum,

I'm just as sane as anyone,

It's just a game I play for fun-for fun.

Will he take a sailboat ride?

He is very likely to,

Will he feel good inside?

He ain't very likely to,

Will he tell you he's alive?

He is always trying to,

But nothin', no nothin' does he say

In the morning when the day's begun

-"hello, good morning, how are you?"

And in the evening of a noonday sun

-"What a lovely afternoon!"

Well I've been living next to you.

Bluesy Monday is the on day that they came here,

When they haunt me adn they taunt me in my cage.

I mock them all, they're feelin' small, they got no answer

They're playing dumb but I'm just laughing as they rage

DOn't arrange to have me sent to no asylum,

I'm just as sane as anyone,

It's just a game I play for fun

I've been foolin' everyone-everyone.

Will he take a sailboat ride?

He is very likely to

Will he feel good inside?

He ain't ever likely to

Will he tell you he's alive?

He is always been tryin' to

But nothin', no nothin' does he ever say

In the monring when the day's begun

-"Do you think it looks like rain"?

ANd in the evening or the noonday sun

-"you know I nearly missed the train"

Well I've been living next to you, my friend

But what kind of friend are you?

Is it the beginning or the sorry end?

Will I ever see it through?

I've never been insane

Oh what's the game?

I believe I'm dieing...

He's mad, mad, mad...

Not quite right...

OOoooooooooooooo.............

Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy

Well he took little Susie to the Junior Prom
Excitable boy, they all said.
Then he raped and killed her
and he took her home.
Excitable boy, they all said.

Well he's just an excitable boy.

After ten long years
they let him out of the home.
Excitable boy, they all said.
Then he dug up her grave
and built a cage with her bones.
Excitable boy, they all said.

Well he's just an excitable boy.

out.

After the day I had yesterday & many other Mondays, one of mine is definitely "I Hate Monday's" by the Boomtown Rats. Another one I particularly lean towards is called "When He Cheats", not that it has anything to do with my life at this time, but I identify with the point of view expressed in the song. A great way to get out frustrations without actually doing it.
