Okay I am not sure where to put this one.  I am Gorean, one thing I hold as so many Gorean is Honor and Respect.   I find that in this vanilla world such values are abstract, more like everyone out for themselves.  However, I have just read two more reasons why I hold these values as well other so close and am glad I call myself Gorean.

I live in California and today I read that the County where I live once 2nd in Command Sheriff made a no contast enter in a case of misuse and corrpution that would have sent him to prison for 13 years, instead in the agreement he spends a year in a jail of his choice, meaning about 8 months actual time.  In fact under the current Sheriff that department key staff have been found out misusing and using their authority for their own personal gain.   The whole drama is not over.

Then there is are now recent findings that State Treasurer who as State Attorney General hid millions of dollar in private contacts that he personally benefited from, he claims no wrong was done.

Yes I know there is no planet called Gor..but if I had a choice I go live there.

I wish you well

Nosathro

Is it dishonorable to steal from a thief?
Is it dishonorable to burn the house of an arsonist?
Is it dishonorable to kill a murderer?

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, is not christian, but there is honor and justice in it - and some profit as well.

Yes.
Yes.
Yes.

Faced with a choice of your blind, toothless moral philosophy I'll take the rule of Law over the vigilante rule of Rule.

Eh? I was only asking questions, not advocating any philosophy.
Anyway: you sadly never experienced the rule of Rule, so how can you judge it?
And as for the rule of Law: with 89 per cent (to gratify Noah numerically) of USA citizens being or having been imprisoned or having a jail related occupation, I hope that you are content with the blind, toothless and amoral philosophy of the rule of Law.

We are gladly devoted to institutionalized law, to prevent the squickiness involved with addressing the roots and issues behind crime.  It's easier to throw money at beggars, than it is to sit and talk with them.  So too with criminals.
