I think a more complex set of rules is required. First of all, you can't watch everyone. Some will drink and play. But some can hold their ale, others cannot. You will never know if this is the last stop of an extended barhopping night. If their demeanor is right I don't think you would refuse them a drink. Personally I like a little alcohol with my scenes but I do understand how this could become the worst nightmare ever. You also do not know who is mentally out of it. Some clubs I've heard of use a universal safeword, like RED. Security comes right away, and things had better be going right, that is the bottom is realeased or being released right now. As with any place, if someone doesn't look coherent enough to say, drive a car, of course you can't let them play. The way I would do it though would be different. It would be totally private, no licensing at all. Don't even sell drinks, the bartender is there to deny drinks not to serve them. Of course he serves them, rather than BYOB, but he can see if someone needs to be cut off. My idea of something like this would be straicly member only and their guests. Each member is responsible for the conduct of their guest(s). Dues they pay are based on their consumption of drinks and food, but no money changes hands at the bar except tips. The door is locked and you need a card to get in. I agree with the changing rooms, and I think there should be 'private' rooms as well. Just my opinion, but that is how I would do it. There wouldn't be alot of local notariety, and actually the place could have hotel rooms for out of town guests and members. Like a time share. Of course there could be some equipment in the rooms :-) Are you really doing this or is it a pipe dream ? It would be interesting to see how it does. But I think the private club route is the best to avoid trouble of any kind. If you are actually doing this, best of luck. I would like to hear that you are doing well, because that is erncouraging. One day there may be more of us then there are of them :-) T
