ORIGINAL: Najakcharmer Filk. That's about all I listen to. Heather Alexander, Leslie Fish and Kathy Mar to be specific. Is that some new kind of folk music or something? New, no. Folk, you could say that. "Filk" is a word that originated with a very old typo in a convention programming book and refers to "science fiction folk music". It ranges from very, very good to downright awful, mostly because everybody is encouraged to participate and write and sing. The closest thing to the funny side of filk that most people would be familiar with is Weird Al Yancovic. For the serious side of filk, Lorena McKennit or some of the traditional Celtic bands like the Chieftains aren't far off of what you'd hear in a filk circle, except that they're singing about dragons and Dorsai and sandworms and starships.
